Okay, 2500.00 for a guitar. Which????
New or used, does not matter. I would prefer a smaller builder and would definitely prefer an OM sized box. I play fingerstyle with some light strumming. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

 [Edit] FWIW, most people are going to direct you to either the Santa Cruz OM/PW or the Martin OM-28V. |
CC132 is right...For that price try a Santa Cruz OM/PW in Indian/Sitka...brand new they're not much more than $2500.
Horton is also making really good guitars for that price. Most small bulders are charging at least 3K these days, you may want to do some research and save a few pennies. Good luck on your tone search. |
Taylor 514ce for fingerstyle hands down.

Hi Ron,
Here's a beautiful Morgan OM at just under your budget: http://www.paramountguitars.net/guit...organOMMah.htm Listen to the sound samples there. Then, go to the Morgan site and learn about the builder, David Iannone. Good luck. |
Last time I checked, Steve Saville (SteveS on the AGF) Kevin Clark (KMClark on the AGF) and AGF Sponsors Andy Zimmerman (Lazydog Guitars) and Nehemiah Covey (Covey Acoustics) had base prices that were below or at your price range.
If you can't wait for a build, Nehemiah has an OM for sale on his site http://www.coveysguitars.com/dread.html and Steve has a Small Jumbo also for sale on his site http://saville_guitars.webs.com/availableforsale.htm Aloha, Hen P.S. - there are a bunch of nice guitars in the classifieds (some OMs) that are also priced in your range....lots of choices - Good Luck:D |
Wow!! I'm tempted to grab that SJ that Steve Saville has myself. If only I had more cash flow. :(

I love Martin Jubers, especially the mahogany ones. 2 1/4 bridge spacing, Adirondack top, cutaway. http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=169445 Not a Martin, but I'm a Tony Yamamoto fan too: http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=169516 The OM-21 is a classic Martin and a bargain. Here's one with some years on it: http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=168429 Here's one with a gorgeous sunburst finish: http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=166802 The OM-28V is a very versatile guitar, sensitive enough for fingerstyle, strong enough for flatpicking. One from the 90s: http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=168231 One with factory electronics, a low profile neck, and 2 1/4 bridge spacing: http://69.41.173.82/forums/showthread.php?t=166802 Oooops, just connected with the preference for small builders ... well, these are the guitars that have been making me wish I had room in my stable recently, even if they're mostly factory items. There is a pretty good assortment of small shop instruments in the classifieds as well, and I think you'll generally find better deals on better quality instruments here on AGF than you will on Ebay or most dealers. There's a Collings OM1ss in classifieds for less than that shipped to your door.
Steve! Nice work. Beautiful. |
2500 on an OM? You have the world at your feet my man. Get one 2-3 owners out, and you'll have a superior bargain.
Names? C'mon, pick one. Bourgeois, Collings, Santa Cruz, Huss &Dalton, etc. 2 or 3 owners out is the trick. |
Besides the classifieds here, check out the ads at UMGF, the Collings Forum, the Santa Cruz Forum...there are LOTS of nice, well cared for guitars for sale out there right now at that price range.
|
You can get a used boutique guitar at the price. A used Bourgeois OMC or vintage OM is usually around that price... there are so many options out there...
keep an eye on the Classified, there are some really nice guitars at very good prices... I was really gasing for that Yamamoto... |
