Malcolm Young RIP

Malcolm Young founder of AC/DC has died. He had been battling dementia for quite some time.

Dru Edwards 11-18-2017 09:02 AM

What??? Terrible news. I knew he left AC/DC and he had dementia but this is shocking news.

So sad to hear. RIP Malcolm - you'll always be remembered as one of the best rhythm players out there.

AC/DC ...maybe the best rock band of all time.

crikey 11-18-2017 09:09 AM

I had no idea he had been suffering. RIP, Malcom. :(

Just finished reading some online articles about his passing. So sad. I remember going over to my buddy's house after Back and Black came out and we listened to his sister's record. First time I ever heard AC/DC and I was hooked.

I would second that. No frills blues rock/hard rock. Some of the most memorable guitar riffs ever written. They declined to turn into a 'hair metal' band in the 80's when everyone else was jumping into spandex.

Three chords? There's a bit of truth in that, but they played them better than anyone else.

My all-time favorite rhythm guitarist. Sorry to hear the news. He gave me oh so many riffs to learn.

Dementia is an insidious disease! Godspeed Mr. Young. Thanks for the memories.

Founder of AC/DC, eh?

Would have never known. Good to keep plugged into current news, I reckon.

I saw an interview he gave a few years ago and it was clear he was not well.
AC/DC are definitely one of the hardest rocking bands of all time.
RIP Malcolm.

Just a month after older brother George passed away.
It was George who helped set up and guide AC/DC in the beginning.

An early shot of Angus, Malcolm and George Young.

I remember that album coming out as well, I was in the summer between my 7th and 8th grades. Recall hearing about Bon Scott's death the year before when showing up for our morning ride to school from my buddy's brother. There was a small blurb about it in Creem magazine IIRC. Probably the most bummed I've ever been about a celebrity death, but I don't tend to get too worked up about that kind of thing. Just bummed that AC/DC wasn't going to be around (at least that's what we thought).

I love this video. The ultimate grimy, gritty, straight-ahead rock band. Let there be rock.

Exactly right. RIP Malcolm, both he & Angus undoubtedly learnt some of their chops & got a lot of their inspiration from big brother George.

As an aside, I hope this is the end for the band & I mean that in a sincere way. With Malcolm gone, Bon long gone, Brian's voice gone, Phil Rudd AWOL & Cliff Williams retired it's surely time to hang up the boots.

Cool picture of the Young brothers there Bruce, none of them big in physical stature but all giants of rock (particularly Australian).

Malcolm's tonal foundations were an inspiration to me for years.

Rock in Peace, Mr. Young!

Oh man another legend has passed. R.I.P. he was relatively young too.
