Avalon Fusion A2-20 (aka A32J)
Here's the first pic of many of the build of my new Avalon A32J. This is the Indian rosewood for the back.

Bevel
What a numpty! In the excitement I almost forgot to have a bevel added, doh! I'm a bevel devotee. Whilst not essential I would say once you've played a guitar with one you realise just how comfy they make playing for long periods of time; something that is very likely with my new A32J.
So I've opted for this bevel style (ignore the fancy inlay, cutaway and other gubbins). The binding was going to be sycamore but now they and the bevel will be ebony http://www.avalonguitars.com/cmsfile...20B/l320bh.jpg |
Hi Dweezil
Love the bevel - in ebony, too! very classy!:) BTW, I just checked your impressive website and your excellent first CD. Really impressive!:) Will you be using the A32j for any of the tracks on the new one? John |
Thanks!
the new Avalon will certainly be used, probably for more pieces than I had originally planned  Glad to see you on here, us Avalon devotees need to stick together :guitar: |
Agree on the bevel, very much so. The BTO I'm selling has one in ebony:
http://www.laguitarsales.com/pages/4..._BTO_GA_27.htm I'm selling it because I want a larger guitar, which is already commissioned, and that will have both an arm and rib bevel. Should be very comfortable. Really enjoyed the sound samples as well!! Really nice playing and a pleasure to listen to. That rosewood is really a beautiful piece!! What is the top going to be? |
Top is the finest of beautifully book matched alpine spruce. Pics to follow.
Alpine and nylon are just perfect together... |
congrats.
Can you compare your Lowden J with your Avalon J? Other than the difference in top wood, what do you hear differently from the two companies? I am glad to see that Avalon is back. |
Not got my new Avalon "A32J" yet. Early March.
But I do have an old Avalon A25J. The A25J is not only cedar as opposed to spruce but is like a Lowden F sized body. So warmer but also fuller in sound. Not better or worse, just different. The bracing is also different, 'dolphin' vs 'AXE'. I love my Lowden S32J dearly and wanted to have another nylon to compliment it, to give me a broader tonal palette to choose from, hence wanting a different wood top but more importantly a bigger body. The Avalon A25J is just lovely but I think the thing that really appeals to me about it is the size as opposed to the top hence me commissioning a "A32J". My ear just prefers spruce and alpine spruce just sits so well with nylon for me. It terms of woods and build quality the S32J and A25J are the same. I strongly suspect the "A32J" will be just divine! I will also say this, for the record, Avalon are a blooming pleasure to deal with, very accommodating, helpful and really care about what they are doing. Keep an eye on their website as exciting news is coming soon! |
