Any thoughts on the Martin D18SS?

I recently played two of these and they were pretty nice. Compared to the long scale D18V, there was not much difference in volume but the lower string tension was very noticeable.

I loved the sound and loved the playability. When strummed hard, it lacked the depth of the D18GE but it had nothing to be ashamed of compared to the D18V.

As a bonus, the D18SS also costs less than the D18V.

What are your thoughts on the D18SS? A great progressive idea or a "minor league's" D18V?

Personally I am not a short scale fan, but do feel they're best suited to small body fingerstyle guitars. That's not me (strictly fingerstyle) so I say it depends on the player and their style.

Hard to compare with a D-18V or GE to me, different animals.
