Rainsong P12 Marine Burst (blue) CF guitar ** OFF THE MARKET **

OFF THE MARKET: Decided to keep this guitar after all. :)

Rainsong P12M carbon fiber 12 fret parlor-size acoustic guitar, 2014 build, with Venetian cutaway and a lovely blue burst finish (that shimmers and shifts hue in varying light) and custom modifications, including a soundhole in place of original barn door electronics. Impervious to the elements – maintains tuning in any temp/humidity condition. Fitted with a passive Fishman pickup. Includes hard case and all Rainsong documents, plus extra’s. Received in trade in March 2016, totally love it but the neck is just a tad too thick for me (N2 version, with truss rod) so replacing with a slightly thinner neck Blackbird as part of my exploration of carbon fiber guitars.

Tone is superb – a bright, slightly Taylor-like, but uniquely Rainsong voicing. Great for fingerstyle, very articulate and responsive. Booming tone when strumming, has depth and volume beyond its size. Spec's are standard P12: 1 3/4" nut, 24.9" scale length, 13 3/16” lower bout width, 4" deep body at heel, string spacing at bridge 2 3/16". All carbon-fiber/glass-fiber body construction. Tusq nut and upgraded bone saddle. Bridge pins have MOP buttons - seem to have a blue shimmer, complementing the marine blue body. Gotoh tuning machines with 1:18 gear ratio. Clean fretboard, no markers. Has an endpin (for pickup) and neck pin. Barest of minimal fretwear. Overall condition is outstanding – no marks, dings, scratches, anything.

This guitar has two levels of customization, all done by the former owner (who runs a guitar effects business – knows his stuff!). First, the aesthetics were enhanced with white auto pinstriping outline around the guitar’s front (at the side edge – right about where the binding would be on a wood guitar) and headstock, plus a white double-circle rosette and white zirconium tuner buttons. And a cool white beveled pickguard. Creates a lovely blue/white motif. All are easily removed/reversed (if you like, I can do it for you, or you can after seeing the guitar if you don’t like the look). In addition to the white tuner buttons, the original chrome ones are included, plus a set of buffalo bone black tuner buttons the prior owner had installed at one time. And the spare Tusq saddle.

The second area of customization is on the electronics. The guitar came with a Fishman Prefix ‘barn door’ pickup system, but it was removed and a customized soundhole was created by installing a tear-shape opening cover over the original opening. The original Fishman passive undersaddle pickup is wired directly to the heel jack (works great), and the prior Fishman Prefix preamp is included in case you prefer that being reinstalled. As a bonus, the prior owner also mounted another Fishman Prefix unit into a stand-alone box as an extra preamp for use with this guitar.

This fabulous guitar plus excellent condition hard case (with numerical lock) and all the extra’s (saddle, two sets of tuner buttons, two extra pickups, all paperwork, etc.) is offered for $OFF THE MARKET, includes paypal and fully insured, fanatically packed US ground shipping with signature verification. New Marine Burst P12’s are advertised consistently at or above $1999, so you save BIG on a recent vintage carbon fiber guitar.

Can email more photos, and happy to take new ones if you want specific looks or info. I've bought/traded/sold too many (24+) guitars on AGF, and will gladly provide references. Thanks for looking!

I like the white accessories he added to the guitar. Makes it look really cool.
I have a P12 and really, really like it, although my black one looks dull next to this neat looking instrument. Stays on its stand year around, ready to be played. Good luck with the sale.

Nice upgrades, love the white and blue.

Thanks Billy and hawk. I really liked the mod's as well - really nicely done. Also agree that when you can keep a guitar out, it gets played more! :guitar:

Had a few requests for soundclips - here is a link to this guitar being played. Sounds even better in person. :) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DGAa0fw88D4

Wow!! Another great guitar from a great seller! I have to admit, Andy is one of my favorite people on AGF...a GREAT man, and if a guitar makes it to Andy's home, it is really special.

Very cool pictures, and a very cool guitar!! Buy with confidence!!

I'm the previous owner...it's a sweet guitar, and the seller is a great guy!
If I recall, in the video, the guitar has FX or silk & steel strings, which are a bit mellower than your typical strings (also, just camera audio).

Just have to say, this is one of the coolest looking guitars I have seen in a while. Love the custom mods. Offered at a great price by a top-shelf seller.

Can anyone elaborate on the shift in tone when the barndoor became a soundport.

I owned a P14 when they first came out and while it was a nice guitar in many ways I was a little underwhelmed with the overall tone with the body being so small it lacked any real bottom end.

Was thinking this soundport might give the player a richer tone.

Hey man P/m'd you

Thank you Mike, Tom and Frank for your kind comments. Much appreciated (and more than generous! :) blush)

Benderman, I don't have the "before" sound on this P12. There is definitely a robust bass tone with this guitar (with the soundhole being part of what the player hears). But can't comment on tone change vs original barn door config - perhaps Tom will comment? This weekend I'll cover the soundhole and try a few A/B recordings with and without and report on that. Please also check out the video of this guitar being played.

Benson, replied to PM - thanks for your interest!

Took the Fishman Quackmonster out of my OM1000N2 and it definitely resulted a much fuller and louder sound (30% or more) for the player. Far more low end comes through. The guitar also is now as light as a feather.....well almost.

This is the most interesting color scheme in memory.

But the reason I write is to endorse the seller.
I can attest that a buyer will be more than pleased with any transaction with this well respected AGF member.

No worries here.
None.

Had a trade, buyer asked to be released (of course, I granted the request), and decided to get a set-up to see if it could be easier to play, before putting it back on the market. The setup worked wonders, can now play the hard songs I'm learning, and love the tone. So - was a "near miss" brush with buyers remorse. But story ended well! :)
