Atkin Guitars (UK) Workshop videos.

Alister Atkin is unusual in that he makes guitars using the Martin and Gibson designs - rather than the more common British small jumbo shapes made by most other British luthiers.

I'm only about a 100 miles away from his workshop but I'm not aiming to buy any more guitars so I wouldn't want to waste his time.

But He's made this very down to earth series of videos about how the actually build his their guitars.

This one is episode 6 - the last one, including cutting and carving nut, saddle, final set up and pick guard etc.

I thought you guys in the US, Canada , Oz and elsewhere might find it interesting and also amusing as the accent is real "saff-eas' (south east) English, AKA "estuary English" which I share to an extent (although mine is more south-central. (everything relates to London of course).

Jokey blokes creating great guitars -

Very cool, Andy. I love geeking out on this stuff. Thanks for sharing.

A lot of fun tks. You mentioned they copy American designs. There is a US builder, Atkins, that doesnt follow traditional American designs that makes a fantastic sounding guitar.

Blimey! This is great. I got to watch the Blokes who made my 000! Many thanks for sharing this!

If I was only 100 miles away from Alister, I buy an Atkin for sure, even if I had to sell one or two of my Martins or (more likely) Gibsons. So nice to see a younger or still young looking succesful builder from Europe - or ex-Europe! :).

Enjoying these, thanks Andy!
There's a little bit of The Office at times... "oh, here he is...."

Peter, you don‘t have to drive that far. ER guitars in Wels has a nice collection. I‘ve been there a few days ago.

I have two of their guitars and every time I get the GAS I think about selling one of them. Then I play them and think to myself, why did I ever consider selling one of these???? Truly are some incredible instruments.

Just bought an Atkin today Andy - been slightly torturing myself with these videos whilst I wait for it to arrive! I really like the ethos behind the company and am eagerly awaiting what appears to be an instrument built to a very high standard.

Thought I would give this a bump as there seems to be a keen interest in workshop videos lately.

Here’s the first video of at least seven as far as I know.
