1993 Taylor 912
Just played a 1993 Taylor 912 with Cindy inlays at my local guitar playhouse.
It just might have to come home with me. Oh my goodness what a fantastic guitar. Any owners or anybody that can offer some insight to early 90's Taylors? |

Some day indeed...

90's is the golden era of taylors. Just right to open up. I've had the pleasure to own a brazilian 814 from 99. A sweet guitar.

I'm very lucky to have an early 90s K22C (in signature). It is a very sweet and expressive member of the family!

I have a 1993 910 that I bought new. It is one of the best guitars of any make or style I've ever played or heard. Been offered much more than I paid for it by several people, but it will go the grave with me.

912
I have a 1995 612 and absolutely love the sound. The 90's Taylor's have a much fuller sound than the more modern ones, just my opinion.

I believe that Taylor's constant changes since the 90's, in an attempt to obtain a more 'vintage' tone...relief routing, CV bracing/adi bracing, tweaks to body shape, NT neck and scarf joint, etc, etc. have 'homogenized' their sound when compared to the 90's era.
Around 2035, I predict Taylor will introduce their 1996 'Authentic' Series:) |
The only early 90's Taylors I've ever played were the two I've owned. First, a '94 410, which I traded in on a '91 510. Let's just say, I have no plans to ever sell that 510.

I used to have a 93' 912c... I guess its one of the best Taylors I have ever played... But honestly, for the money just get a used Goodall, Furch/Stanford/Stonebridge w/c are significantly better:)

I have a '94 812c and it sounds and plays great. This guitar is such a joy to play. One aesthetic detail I like is that the bridge pins are in a curved arrangement, not straight.
