What song takes you to a happier place?

Al Petteway's "Sheep at the door" is mine. Even though I'm behind performance speed by 10 bpm, it's still fun to play.

It's hard to be upset after a good Tweezer.

This one, from the first time I heard it.

Don't know if it's a regional thing Barry but your video won't play for me... but not to worry, I found it on your earlier thread and enjoyed. http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=413762.

Two songs come to mind for me that lift my spirit instantly with the first couple of Bars.

Waiting on a Sunny Day - Bruce Springsteen
Pride and Joy - SRV

Whole bunch of stuff - traditional/neo-trad folk, American Songbook, rockabilly, doo-wop, surf, Brill Building/NYC R&R, first-wave British Invasion, '60s R&B/soul - pretty much any music made by real instruments and singers who could sing...

Oddly enough, Elton John's Funeral For A Friend. It's got a great driving melody that puts me in the pocket of the kind of music I really enjoy playing. It took some work to transcribe but music like that is my utopia, and where I like to be when playing.

Song-wise, it doesn't matter as much but they have to be grounded in a good melody that keeps my hands interested and as engaged as my voice. There were plenty of good songs that engaged both the player and singer that I keep on a list.

Lynyrd Skynyrd "Write About It"

John Prine - Whistle and Fish
Definitely a "happy place" song for me.

John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High". When I was a kid my parents use to take us to Denver to visit my grandparents, and they would always take us up into the Rockies. When we came from Spokane, we would have to drive through Rifle and Craig, and then over Berthoud Pass. That was a real trip in December back in 1962! When we moved south and drove up from Louisiana, I couldn't wait to get over Raton Pass and start looking west ... always amazed by the front ranges and Pike's Peak.

That song just takes me back to some great memories when I was young.

Too many to list, but lately this has been putting a smile on my face

I'll always remember the buzz I got the very 1st time I heard the very 1st track on The Yes Album, 'Yours Is No Disgrace'.

Took me just over 40 years to eventually see them live in concert.
They opened with that very same song.
'Yours Is No Disgrace'.
Same buzz too. :)

Lately, listening to the duet album by Pat Metheny and Charlie Haden "Beyond the Missouri Sky" takes me to a very relaxing place, especially listening with headphones on to catch every nuance of the music.

Anything by Carlos Santana.

Telegraph Road - Mark Knopfler. :D
on a side note about Pitar's selection of Elton's Funeral For A Friend, ya gotta have Love Lies Bleeding with that. Has been a fav combo of mine since it came out. Never tried playing it though,
Any chance you could send me the music for that?
