NGD: Martin D-15M Burst
I've been eyeing it at my local shop for a while, finally pulled the trigger today. Got a good price at Capitol City Music in Springfield IL - having a pretty good holiday sale. It sounds great - big open low end while not overly boomy, meaty mids and surprisingly bright, shimmery highs. Really good volume, too. I'm honestly surprised how good it sounds. I never gave all hog guitars much of a look, but I'm not sure why. Great bang for the buck. I know it's subjective, but I preferred it over guitars twice the price. Oh and the burst finish is very nice (I like it better than the street master thing).
I have an old beater that I've been using as a gigging guitar, but it's got some intonation issues that are becoming more and more frustrating. So this D-15M is replacing that. I plan on putting a Fishman Matrix in it and playing it through the Aura DI with my bands. Will be nice to not have to tune so often! |
Congratulations on the new D-15M Burst! Enjoy it.
I am completely with you when it comes to loving all-mahogany guitars! My head keeps telling me I should favor spruce tops, but my ears and heart repeatedly tell me otherwise. Plus, my Hog tops work beautifully with my singing voice...I am on the team! #TeamAllMahogany Oh, and be sure to post pics of that new D-15M! :) |
I think everybody should have one all Hog in their stable.
No, I'm not buying one for all of you. |
