He had been battling cancer. I really hate to hear that... very sad news.

AndrewG 07-15-2017 08:07 AM

Really? I met him year before last here in Exeter. R.I.P.

Big loss indeed. His battle with cancer has been public. Too soon gone. Thank you Bill.

I knew he'd been ill but this is still a shock. R.I.P. Mr. Collings your legacy is assured by the incredible craftsmanship of the instruments you designed and built. Condolences to the Collings family.

Collings

This generation's Great American guitar builder

This is incredibly sad. I own more Collings guitars than I know what to do with and Bill's values and philosophies shined through in all of them. He elevated the craft and the business in so many ways. Rest in peace.

geetarman 07-15-2017 09:13 AM

Very sad news I love Bill's guitars RIP.

pukematrix 07-15-2017 09:17 AM

Whoa. Sad to hear of his loss.

HHP 07-15-2017 09:25 AM

Don't know of any other builder who achieved his level of excellence across so many instruments. Flat top guitars, arch top guitars, electric guitars, mandolins, the Waterloo line, even ukes. Tremendous loss.

Tahitijack 07-15-2017 09:30 AM

His guitars were so beautiful. He will be missed but his work will live on for generations yet to come.
