Neither. There are other preamp/eqs that I would chose.

Hi G...
I've mixed both.

The ParaDI has more adjustable functions - if you need them. It also fits in the pick drawer of most cases. It has a solid metal case & good quality jacks and pots.

The Fishman Platinum has a nice full and quiet sound. I like what the Bass version does to a bass better than what the Acoustic version does for acoustic guitars. It is large, plastic covered and awkwardly over sized.

For preamps in the $130 - $200 price range they are both fine pieces of equipment.

In no particular order, a Presonus Acousti-Q, (used) Rane AP-13, (used) Raven Labs PMB-II or D-TAR Solstice. These are all dual source blenders (the Rane is true stereo), with more features and with better sound. They would run between $250 and $350.

Understand my prejudice: dual source systems are much better than single source systems.

It's in the Baggs.:)

I've been using an Ultrasound DI Plus. I like the tone I get with both my 414rces and 514ce. My 514ce has a Baggs Element Active Onboard in place of the Fishmen Blender. Works great for me. I get the same clean tone that I get with my Ultrasound AG50DS2.

Though if given a choice between the Baggs and the Fishman, I'd definatly pick the Para DI over the Fishman.

+1 on the Ultrasound DI Plus. It is a little bigger I think, but works very well and has an effects loop and separate send controls. Very good price also.
