Up on Reverb. Read ALL about it. Any help with pics appreciated, as always.Absolutely MINT Martin M body (0000) Custom Shop 12 fret guitar with OHSC

TRADED AGF!

Quarter-sawn book matched Carpathian Spruce top,
book-matched Birdseye Maple body and book-matched Maple neck with stringer.
This very unique instrument is perfect in every way. *
This is a true piece of art from the renowned Martin Custom Shop!
This axe sports a beautiful quarter sawn solid maple 2 pc. neck with an East Indian Rosewood stringer. The neck is super stable and results in more energy going to the top, for superior tone!
The maple back is arched and beautifully book matched.

This has been hanging in my humidity monitored music room with a Tone-Rite since I received it. It has really opened up and the tone has BLOOMED. I do not believe it had been played much at all by the original owner.
Sounds wonderful for finger-style and flat picking both! the sound is Fat, balanced and very articulate throughout it's entire range. The Maple sounds Great, with this Martin Custom Shop build!!!
There is plenty of sustain with a pleasing high end shimmer, warm mids, as well as nice thick low note definition. The oversized but slender body delivers dread like VOLUME, without the annoying dread boominess!
This body is also very comfy. I find it sits at the perfect height on my knee.
The frets are perfectly finished, and the neck is fast!

My pal and Tech, Tim Luranc was Head Luthier and in charge of R. Taylor for the entire six years they were in production. He is now Senior Repair Tech at Taylor El Cajon. Tim is a serious fan of vintage Martins and has done a LOT of repairs on them in the 40 plus years he has been working on guitars!

Tim LOVES this axe. He freaked out when he checked it out, especially when he got his inspection mirror and light inside it. He declared it "PERFECT" and said it needs nothing!

The original spec/build sheet is in the case and photos.

As you can see, the original list price was $5,499

I simply have a couple too many nice guitars, with a custom build incoming from John Kinnaird, that I must pay for, and this just needs to go!

This guitar is in completely original and unmodified condition. No neck strap pin or electronics ever. Add them if you wish.
WAY TOO CHERRY FOR ME TO GIG!

Cheers

Paul

That looks like a great guitar...

$ongWriter 02-11-2017 05:52 PM

Holy crap..

Wow...that's impressive...love the OOOO size...never played a 12 fret one...

woodbox 02-11-2017 07:19 PM

What is this?

$ongwriter stated above that he has never played one.
Well, I cannot recall even hearing about a Martin 0000 12 fret, let alone actually seeing or playing one.

I had an M18 with cutaway (Woody Mann model), and a couple M36's, and all had 14 frets.

Have I been looking the other way while the Circus rolled through town?
Or is this a very rare, one of a kind Martin?

What a sweet guitar. Very unique choice of tone woods. I own a M Beneteau an love it . A 12 fret would sweeten the tone considerably.
Good luck with sale!

Guitars44me 02-11-2017 10:13 PM

Thanks everyone!

Yes, it is quite rare. I was told by the original owner that it was one of three!

It sure sounds nice... someone will be pleased I am quite sure!

Play on gang...

Cheers

this is what I'm going to have a custom built like, that body config. and will likely use carpathian. That's a very novel guitar wish I dldn't need to sell a couple dozen, I'd look carefully at this one.

GLWS, Paul.

Martin has recently (past year or so) put out some of these 12 fret OOOO/M bodies. Check out Gruhn's website for some others that are non maple based. I've never played one but REALLY wanted to. The 14 fret design is rarely talked about but spectacular. Good luck with the sale!

Thank You Birdsong

Thanks Birdsong!!!

Pic help always appreciated! And needed from my iPad...

I talked to Tim Luranc yesterday and he had read my glowing review. He declared it straight up, and said he would not change a word.

Lovely in every way but must find a new home eventually!
