Michaud Made J-R (NEW MODEL CONTENT)

Joel Michaud of Michaud Made in Calgary, Alberta has been on streak of creativity this past year and last, and has been busy dreaming up of new ideas to add to his line up. He had just added his take of the single 0, his Michaud O-R (http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...d.php?t=444438), last September and it has quickly become his favourite model to date.

Joel M. has always been a huge fan of small bodied guitars due to the immediacy and attack one can get from the smaller body cavity. While he appreciates the sound of a larger bodied instrument, complex overtones have never been his immediate goal. He has, in the past, built jumbos in the traditional sense and while they were great instruments, they had never resonated with his tonal goals. While most builders aim to make a small guitar sound big, Joel wanted to do the opposite and take on the challenge to see if he could make a big guitar sound immediate, as if it were simply a bigger sounding 00.

I am proud to announce Joel's newest addition to his line-up (which currently consists of his O-R, OO-R and OM-R), the Michaud Made J-R! The new J-R is Joel's take on the jumbo and the tonal spectrum that he prefers. It has a deeper, complex quality compared to his other models while not becoming lost in the overtone muddiness.

The guitar is currently going through its final paces in the set-up process before heading on its way to Singapore. It would undoubtedly be passing through my hands and I'll be posting more updates when that happens :D

Steve

I have yet to meet the man himself, but from my correspondences with him, he truly is a first class person! :)

Hey Andrew! He's right, it is indeed Malaysian Blackwood which is an ebony. Fortunately so due to the current CITES restrictions against Dalbergia

Not to mention that they're all large enough for a Jumbo! ;) Joel and I were just marveling at your rosette earlier today as well over on Instagram

Me neither! Unfortunately, Joel had his phone stolen, along with the photos he had taken of the build. He had sent me some updates along the way so I do have SOME photos which I shall be posting in the coming weeks. Of course, there will be more photos to come once Joel completes the final set-up and even more once I get the guitar in my hands. Let's hope it isn't snatched up too quickly so that I may be able to record a demo video with it :)

Marcus, thanks for taking on the task of posting this build from Joel. With my build going on while you post this, it's like I'm getting two builds for the price of one :D

Beautiful set... can't wait to see this come together. And I definitely approve of the model name. :)
