Which guitar have you owned the longest?
 

The acoustic guitar I have owned the longest is a Takamine F340, which I have owned for a little over 20 years. Nothing wrong with that guitar, but I wish I had one or two of my fiddles from the mid 80's, when I first started playing. I started out on bass, then by chance I picked up an old Harmony acoustic from my cousin for $20. That's when I made the switch to guitar and never looked back. I wish I still had that old Harmony...

My first electric guitar was a '68 Gibson SG. I paid $300 at a local music store. I wish I had it back...The electric I have owned the longest is a standard Squier Telecaster that I have owned for 20+ years.

I see so many guys buying/selling/trading their guitars, I was wondering how many of you buy them and keep them? I keep most of what I buy these days, but have bought, sold and traded many over the years. Some I regret, most I do not regret.

I'm sure we have some great stories among us. Which guitar(s) have you owned the longest?

A D-70 nylon string I bought new in 1972 for $49.95.

1981 Martin D-35. Bought new.

That I still have, a Martin D-18vms that I've had about 11 years. Had a Mossman and a Kalamazoo a little longer but this e are no longer with me.

That was way overpriced if you bought it new in 1968. I got my Gibson in 1966, when it was 10 years old and pretty beat up. I traded a cheap Japanese guitar and amp plus $100 for it. I've had it ever since, 50+ years.

40 years ago MRSP was $595 when I bought Guild's top of the line dreadnought, the D-55.

It has given me, and countless others, an abundance of joy over the decades.

... and for only 4 cents a day. :D

Oh no, I bought it used in '85. I was 11 years old.

My D-55 cost me about $400 new, maybe $450. I bought it mid 70's so around 40-42 years.

1978 Yamaha FG-335. Gigged with it and still played it out regularly until just last year.

1968 Gibson J50, bought in 1972.....45yr........still here
1964 Gibson B25, bought in 1979,....38yr.......still here

Way back in '69 I bought a tiny turn of the previous century Bruno ladder braced all solid wood Brazilian/adi parlor for $35.00. Still plays and sounds great!

Guild D-55 from the Westerly RI plant made in 1991. Great guitar.

1995 Webber OM bought in 2001, so about 17 years.

I've mentioned this a number of times in similar threads.

The guitar I've owned the longest is the 1928 Martin that Grandma bought new and gifted to me Christmas of 1965.
So just a few days shy of 52 years.

In second place is the 1988 Martin I bought new, thus 29 years in my possession.

My Sears Silvertone folk model from 1968, likely built by Harmony, now at 49 years old. It was my first guitar and was a present from Dad when I was nine and first showed some interest. Even though I now own several better guitars, this one will always have a special place in my heart. It lives on my office wall, not far from Dad's mandolin which I inherited.

The one that I bought myself and owned the longest was a my first new Martin -- a 1990 custom shop build, based on a J-40. It was intended to be a lifetime "keeper" but my aging left hand said otherwise a few years ago. It sold last summer after 27 years at my house.

Of the guitars I currently own, it's a tie: my 2001 Rainsong WS-1000 and my 2001 Taylor 414ce. There are a couple of others that are fast approaching that 17 year mark living in my house.
