possible ebay scam. Watch out.
Just wanted to warn you guys:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=220332453433 I contected the seller to fix his listing; It sounds like he is trying to sell a picture of a Taylor GS. He emailed me, through ebay for "help" late last night, then by this morning sent me this: I answered your "DEMAND" to "FIX" my Auction this evening, and even asked you for help, but after looking at my Auction again, and again, I see nothing wrong with it. it's very descriptive of the Guitar I added links for potential buyers to look at, I won't open a Brand New GS just for pictures, so in conclusion, "MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS" I don't take kindly to someone telling me what to do!!!! besides "WHO are YOU?" the eBay POLICE!!! with your what? (27) you seem to be the amature here. I'm sorry you don't understand the Auction, maybe I should write it in crayon, on manila paper for you. it's very simple "GET LOST" you don't like the way I sell, too bad for you, don't buy from me. in fact, I will never sell anything to you EVER!!! Can you believe this guy?! I reported his listing......watch out for this one my friends. |
(I write this as my jaw drops)
Unreal... the nerve of that seller (or, scammer)... I can't believe some people... Thanks for the heads up... if you deter even one person from this auction, you've done a tremendous service to the ebay buying community, and our fine AGF members... Kev |
I highly doubt it is a scam.....however, he is just gonna cost himself money as prospective buyers will be very leary of not having any actual pictures.
Scammers typically don't take paypal, for one, and his feedback looks fine....if I was you, i'd bookmark the auction...someonw will likely steal it for the opening bid price. if you pay with paypal, and you back it up with your CC, you have nothing to fear anyway. It probably isn't a bad idea to simply stay away from this one though... |
I see nothing wrong with this auction. If you read the description carefully, it makes sense. Unless he revised it and changed the wording. I think it's a legitimate auction and the original poster probably jumped the gun. I'd be ticked off, too.....

jwoertz....
it says a picture is exactly what you will receive..... |
double post oops :)
|
I don't see it as a scam; more so a lazy seller. He didn't want to take real pics.
The tone of his email is pretty pathetic. |
You're probably right tony...I hope so, I guess.
Why would he post GS pics that arent even of a Maple? Great sounding guitar thats never been played? How can he compare it to his Martin then? (which is also for sale) Look at his auction for the D-45...........people are bidding up that guitar based on his eloquent listing????? Really? I guess sometimes lazy sellers look like scammers..... |

Again, I guess I'm giving the guy the benefit of the doubt, but I don't think he's trying to scam.
I bet he meant to say, "What you see in the picture is what you get." |
Here are some quotes from his auction.
"A Brand New Taylor GS guitar, in Maple Sitka, the GS Stands for 'Grand Symphony'..." "The Picture is exactly what you will recieve, but the one for auction is still boxed and never been opened..." The pictures he posted are either from zzoubds or the Taylor site. One is actually of a GS5 (cedar/mahogany). I'm not in the market for a guitar but I'd be more comfortable if there were actualy pictures rather than what he is doing. I don't imagine it is a scam but at the least a poorly thought out auciton. |
He is selling a Maple GS and the photos are a Mahogany GS.
One way to find out is to ask him for the serial number. I am guessing that it is on the Taylor Box. Someone who is familiar with Taylor shipping labels could help on this. With a serial number in hand, a call to Taylor could confirm the guitar. He also has a couple more "New In The Box" guitars on E-Bay. If I was interested in the guitar; I would take a drive, as he is only one hour away in DeKalb, IL His rating is 100% but, the deal looks slighty strange even with his upgraded comments. The dark side in me says maybe he is selling stolen merchandise. |
You guys are missing the seller's point I think. Here's the full context:
"The Picture is exactly what you will recieve, but the one for auction is still boxed and never been opened..." I guess it's all in how you read it. I read it to mean (in a strange way, I'll admit) that the seller is using a stock photo, but the one he has for sale is still in the unopened box. Quote:

Check out the Martin D-45 that he is selling. His description says limited lifetime warranty. Yet I don't think he is a dealer and if Martin is like Taylor the warranty only works if you buy the guitar new from a licensed dealer.
He also would not divulge the serial number of the Martin. Also his feed back has no other guitars in what can be viewed. A couple of pieces of electronics and a hand bag. I am close enough to look but I am not interested. |
Sounds Unbelievable
Yet it has never been played or out of the box???
