Any Gypsy Jazz Players
Been playing bedroom guitar many years and need something new to do. Just recently bought an acoustic and was wondering if any gypsy jazz players near or close to Old Bridge, NJ? I would like to sit in and learn about this style if you have the patience/sense of humor, to deal with an old hack.
Thanks in advance, Frank D. |
Gypsy
Playing Gypsy Jazz Rhythm Is not as hard as it looks. The blistering fast leads are another story.
Get the Django Gig Book and work through that. Expensive but worth it. |
Thanks! I'll look into that Django book right away.

I've looked into this as well, Djangobooks.com has quite a few books on Jazz and Gypsy Jazz, Gypsy Rhythm has received good reviews on the forum they run on the site. Beyond that they also have Gypsy Pickin' but the rhythm book should keep you busy for a while. I have both but haven't cracked into them yet, hopefully after the new year.

Thank you boys.
I think I will ask Santa Claus for that Gypsy Rhythm book this holiday season. It looks wonderful. Just what I need to kick start my side man skills. |
Does Gypsy Jazz Rhythm technique apply to a broader range of music than just Gypsy Jazz? I am primarily focused on solo fingerstyle and flatpicking currently and was wondering if adding in learning the basics (and perhaps beyond) of Gypsy Jazz would be worth adding to my work/fun load. My wife loves Gypsy Jazz so that is also a good motivator for me.
