Which Dreadnought Case ???
I need a backpack case that will protect my Alvarez AD-60SC ... a VERY nice highly under-priced acoustic, especially once you add an Alvarez ASP50MK2 sound hole pickup :)
I ride a bicycle so it needs to be lite but rugged with comfortable straps. The choices I have locally are woefully slim in number I had a WolfPak WPPFA20 but it had pouches too fancy for my taste and the case seemed heavy (a Roadrunner foam case was noticeable lighter but had no backpack straps). What packpack Dreadnought case would you recommend from experience? |
The only gig bag that I have owned was a Taylor bag. It was very nice and had straps. You can get on from them online.

Take a look at the Gator GL-Dread.

This is what I use to get around the festival, either walking or biking... Shoulder straps included, but I added the sheepskin (seat belt pads from Auto Parts store).
Guardian Fiberglass case - I bought this one under the Musician's Gear moniker from Musician's Friend, but it's a Guardian. http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/b...435737f24d.jpg http://images.yuku.com/image/pjpeg/8...604341f294.jpg http://i302.photobucket.com/albums/n...stivalcase.jpg |

I really like the sheepskin (seat belt pads from Auto Parts store) that you added. I wanted to buy the Guardian fiberglass case back then. But now I can get only Musician's friend brand fibergalss case and their price has been raised so high, so I am not interested in them any more. |
Excellent idea on the seat belt pads. I will be adding those to my Gator GL case.

Assuming you already have some type of case conside a insulated case cover with optional back pack straps. This gives you extra protection without taking up all the room of a second case. Plus, we can sew in reflective tape to increase your visibility when riding your bike at night. Just one option.

what about the seagull guitar hard cases- their very light and are about 70-80 bucks
|
I haven't used them backpack style, and am away from home so can't check this aspect of them out right now, but the Mono D80's might do the trick. Rather pricey but I got mine from www.hellomusic.com when they were on sale there for around $125. Whether they will return there on sale is anyone's guess. If you have the bucks and are in a rush, places like Musician's Friend also have them available, e.g., http://www.musiciansfriend.com/acces...ht-guitar-case.

If you search "Guardian fiberglass" in the classifieds here, I had one of these cases for sale a couple weeks ago.
Come to think of it--also have a Reunion Blues Continental gig bag in the same ad--brand new with tags! |
