Best Acoustic Guitars Under $1000
With a smaller body. Not a dreadnought or anything. Something a 14 year old could play.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance:) |
Oh, there are so many choices.
Last year I bought a Martin OM-1 for my 15 year old son. Now that we can mention prices, I got it for under $700. Excellent solid wood guitar. Outside of that, the 15 series Martins (all mahogany or sapele) will be under a grand. Hmm, there's the Taylor 114 with a solid top. You can look at solid Blueridge and Recording King 000 models as well. |
I think you can look at the smaller Models of Seagull Guitars. And a Martin
OM-1 is also a good choice. Greetings sowatt |
I think you can snag one of the (now discontinued) Breedlove American C20 guitars for around 800 or less. amazing guitar

So many choices! Taylor GC3 or GC4; Martin OM-1; & Eastman 508 are nice solid wood guitars near the top of your price range if you buy new.

Look for a used Larrivee OM-03 - or new I suppose. Definitely look for a used OM-03R (rosewood.) I love mine and it's handled some thumps and bumps pretty well - but it ain't going anywhere! ;)

I bought my Recording King to have as a beater- something to leave out and around to pick up as I felt the urge- it's turned into SO much more than that. I take it everywhere with me now.
The Martin X series are great- I owned the 000-X1 and liked it a lot and the Taylor 3 series is a fine instrument that would stick with your child through the long haul. Good luck! |
I recently bought a Guild GAD M20 for $579 after playing many different brands and models and really love it. I also thought the GAD F20 with the spruce top was really nice. You have a lot of options within that budget.

I'd get something you can have a little fun with yourself. I'd think about a Parlor Larrivee or maybe one of their forum guitars that come up for sale fairly often in the Larrivee forum. The 03R's, as mentioned above, are great guitars too. For something a little cheaper, maybe one of the masterbuilt series Epiphones? I've played a few of them that seamed to be pretty nice guitars.

Thats the easiest question of the day ... Eastman by a country mile.

Estiban, without a doubt! :D:D:D

NO question - a Martin 00-15M. USA made..small body, great quality, solid mahagony, very sweet tone - and a real keeper. LOVE it!

Lots of good choices. Art of Lutherie Ami is under $300...solid cedar top, nice tone, solidly built. Martin 15 series...great value. Same for Larrivee OM-03. Eastman's are nice if you are willing to go Chinese. Same for Recording King.

Martin OM-1. Or for less money a Mitchell MO or Recording King.
