Olympic Curling????

Is it just me or is curling just a hi-tec version of bar room shuffleboard played on ice with lots more rules???

Me either but then we probably can't relate to life in Scotland around 1540 when the "sport" was invented....

Canada was devastated this year. No medal for either the Men's or Women's team. First time we didn't medal since Curling was reintroduced to the Olympics in 1998. Canada did win the gold in Mixed Doubles though.

There are similarities to shuffleboard. Just need to add the brooms and some Tim Horton's.

My apologies to those countries where curling is part of your heritage. I was just watching it on the telly, and I couldn't help the comparison to the bar room shuffleboard table owned by a neighbor when I was growing up. I pictured someone with a toothbrush shining the table in front of the puck as it moved down the table. I think it's just one of those activities that looks a bit, well, overdone if one is not more accustomed to watching it....

The only reason for inventing the sport was to use a curling stone to hide explosives to kill Ringo.

I believe I read that a Russian team had to forfeit a bronze medal because one of them was caught doping...

Doping...for CURLING...

If there was a medal and money for Tiddlywinks, the Russian team would dope for it. Apparently, you cannot trust them further than you can test them. There might be a cautionary insight in that!!!!!!!!

They're calling it the "Miracurl on Ice."

Cute play on words, that.

Yea, I was stunned when I read that headline and it made me chuckle. I don't think the team forfeited, just the player who returned his medal. Throwing the rocks 90mph must have given him away.

Really? It has nearly the same objective as shuffleboard or Bocce. Pretty easy to figure out in my mind.

It fits nicely considering the US men's team shocked the world and won gold.

Not a matter of intellectual understanding.

I think I might take it up next winter. Looks fun.
