CBS Sunday Morning feature on Gordon Lightfoot

Today's CBS Sunday Morning broadcast featured a nice tribute to Canadian 'balladeer' Gordon Lightfoot -- http://www.cbsnews.com/videos/gordon...humble-legend/

I recall buying his first album LIGHTFOOT! when I was a freshman in college (because of the photo of him with his Martin dread), and was hooked from then on.

I was also a freshman in college when Gordon Lightfoot's first album "Lightfoot" came out. I was introduced to his music by one of the guys on the dorm floor who went to high school with Gordon Lightfoot and knew him personally.

I will check out that link!

PS: I watched the CBS short; very well done. I have purchased every album Gordon Lightfoot has ever recorded. I am not Canadian, but I have always appreciated his strong connection to Canada. "Canadian Railroad Trilogy" has always been one of my favorites of his. I regularly play "If You Could Read My Mind," "Song for a Winter's Night," and "Early Morning Rain" from memory.

It was an interesting story to see......have a lot of his music on my Ipod and never get tired of listening to it.

His soulful music is what has inspired me to play acoustic guitar. Hopefully he won't take offense at my attempts to honor him.;)

Oh that was awesome to watch! Thanks for sharing... I wish we had more artists like him, what a talent! Jeri Ann

Gordon Lightfoot -- a musical giant. Great writer and performer who had a huge influence on so many others. Tony Rice has covered just about every song in the Lightfoot catalog, for example.

Seven Island Suite.

Just sayin'.

Thanks for the heads up. I've tried three times so far to watch it, but all that works are the jack in the box commercials. All three times. No Gordon!

Oh well, I will try again later. Thanks

I saw CBS Sunday Morning and enjoyed the segment on Gordon Lightfoot! I actually met him in a restaurant on a Saturday afternoon in Barrie, Ontario, Canada, in the summer of 1969 but wasn't aware of who he was at the time even though I'd heard his music. Gord's one of my favorites!

Wow - thanks for posting this link. I was not a big Lightfoot fan back in the day, but I'm gaining a renewed appreciation for his work. My music partner is a big fan of his though, and as a result we play quite a few of his classic songs in our typical set. In fact, we played a gig last night and we were probably playing a few of Gordon's songs at the same time this special aired on CBS!

Thanks Gordon! You did a great job.
