Hello, I am moving to the Mclean are in VA and was just seeing if anyone else is in or around the area.
If so could really use so advice on were to live etc...I will be working were 495 hits the Dulles tollway.

Will you have a car? If so, you may want to look at living outside of McLean. It's expensive and traffic is horrible most of the time. Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions.

I will be working at the Capital One headquarters...but unfortunatley I have to get a place prior to getting there...all over the net and phone.
I do have a car so I am up for living outside of Mclean...any info would be great.

Mclean will be pricey but it is centally located so you can get the lay of the land for a year then make a move if you want.

I am in Great Falls, the town right next to McLean. I don't know what you want to do re: housing, but check into Reston, Herndon (only parts of though), Ashburn (more of a commute from there though), Vienna, and Great Falls. The most desired schools are the Great Falls/McLean ones if that matters, but all Fairfax County and Eastern Loudoun County schools are aces. PM me and I can help you with anything you want.

Great Falls, I haven't checked there yet...but I tell you I am having trouble finding a place...all so expensive...
I am tryint to spend $1150-1200 w/ a garage...but I guess that is out of the question.

Just not gonna happen for that kind of cash in greater near in DC. My daughter just rented a house (3 bedroom, 1 bath, no garage) in Fairafx county 22306 zipcode . Very nice little bungalo in a nice area between Old Towne Alexandria and Mt Vernon on GW parkway. $1600 She feels like she has a great deal after looking for about 6 months in the paper, craig's list...

Mclean, Great Falls and out the toll road to Reston/Herndon all just as pricey.

Don't let it get ya down. Keep looking. There are deals you can stumble across.

Welcome to NoVA ! Mr. & Mrs. Cakes had a great gathering in March - and there are plenty of members so there will definitely be more, including at my place.

For your price range, consider a couple of areas: Leesburg/Purcellville (farther out the Tollroad, longer commute, but you get more for your money), and Arlington (inside the beltway) If you get in the right area of Arlington/Ballston/Rosslyn/Falls Church it's still very reasonable, and if you're young, single, etc. there is much more nightlife, ethnic restaurants, things to do. Plus from Arlington you are driving "against the traffic" so your commute could be easier. Finding a garage could be tough in Arlington, but there are lots of condos with underground garage.

Stay away from anything south or north or that requires you to cross a bridge (i.e. DC or Maryland).

And unfortunately...the rush hour traffic around the Cap 1 building always sucks...maybe you can do flex time.

I'm in Leesburg and enjoy it - acoustic music about 4 nights a week in the local bars, including a couple of open mikes.

I'm in Mclean. will be hard to get a garaged place for that cheap. I live in a 3 room house in falls church with no garage for just under 2 grand a month witout utilities. if you want to spend that much and have a potential roommate that will spend that much, that could work.
