View Full Version : Cape Cod, MA Get Together?

I have a home on the Cape that I go to from end of June through Mid-August. Was thinking it might be fun to have a get-together there this summer.
Anyone interested? The beach is just around the corner about 2/10 mile for those so inclined. I have three kids myself so I would not be adverse to people bringing theirs. We have a great deck, screen porch, and could set up a waterslide for the little ruggers as well. Badminton too.

Hi Linda,
I'm from So. California, but I had a chance or two to be at Cape Cod in the last few years and liked it a lot.
I'll be in Massachusettes again in last two weeks of this May (next month), so I guess I'll miss the boat, but just want to let you know how much I like Cape Cod.
When I happened to hear "Old Cape Cod", it always reminded me of this little town by the the ocean and I'm always yearn to be back there and it would be super if I can hear music from my AGF members overthere but it seems out of reality.:)
BTW; You and I and Pollajak (from Florida) are the only AGF members that own JKSM as far as I know of, wondering if any one else has it?

It's a wonderful place. I'm glad you enjoy it so much. I always feel home when I'm there, much more so then here in Virginia. Maybe it's those old sea captain's homes, the spooky ghost lore and the gorgeous gardens. It's a shame you won't be out that way over the summer.
I love my JKSM -- was just playing it last night. What strings do you use on yours? I have 80/20 nanos on now but when I restring, I might try the phosphor-bronze. The wood on it is gorgeous, isn't it?

I'm in :D My family has a place in South Dennis. We're about 10 minutes from the bayside beaches and 10 minutes from the oceanside beaches of Dennisport. We typically drive in from Boston on a Thursday night and come back on Saturday nights. What town are you in?

Dennis on the 6A side. We're at the Bayview Beach part of Mayflower Beach.
VERY close to you. Even if it's just us two, could be fun to get together!

Hi Linda,
I'm also using Light 80/20 nanos on mine too, yes the wood is really special almost like one of a kind thing.
Still sadden at senseless killing at V.Tech, just hope time will heal everything like it always does.

Linda:
I know exactly where you are. We're on the bay side quite a bit. We go to Chapins Beach all the time. We have an over-the-sand permit so we drive out onto the beach. At low tide, you'll find us way out there. Hey, maybe we can do some playing out there too :D Anyone else want to join us on cape cod for a lot of fun?

Wow... I rarely check this area of the forum because Massachusetts posts are infrequent.
We live up in Littleton, MA.
We have already made our plans for Atlantic Oaks campground over in Eastham for 4th of July week. I usually bring my little Larrivee Parlour guitar when camping. I'd love to pop by for a visit.
We've got 2 boys ages 4 and 8. They can be energetic at times. Is this in the same age range as your kids?

We will be on the cape during the July 4th week as well. We have an 8 year old son. I usually bring a beater with me to the cape but I'll bring something a little better this time. Also, a friend of my wife usually comes down to visit during the July 4th week. He plays the banjo.

Hi all,
Since I don't think I will be able to make it.
Here's the song (if you don't already know) that you guys can play over here for your Gathering.
Like I said it never fails to reminded me of Cape Cod every time that I hear it.:)
If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air,
Quaint little villages here and there,
You’re sure to fall in love with
Old Cape Cod.
If you like the taste of a lobster stew,
Served by a window with an ocean view,
You’re sure to fall in love with
Old Cape Cod.
Winding roads that seem to beckon you
Miles of green beneath the skies of blue,
Church bells chiming on a Sunday morn
Remind you of the town where you were born.
If you spend an evening, you’ll want to stay,
Watching the moonlight on Cape Cod Bay,
You’re sure to fall in love with
Old Cape Cod.
Have a fun Gathering, We (the So.Cal. gangs) will have it on this Sat.:D

I have a 5 year old son so yep, right within there. Also have a 10 year old daughter and a 12 year old son. Aside from the 4th itself, that week is open and might be a good time for at least a few of us to hang.

I think things are shaping up here for a little get together in the week of the 4th. This will be fun for adults and kids. Thanks for offering to host, Linda.
I believe we'll be there the 1st through the 8th. If we do it on a Saturday or Sunday, it may open this up to more people as it would not require taking a day off from work.

Hi to all,
Thanks to LindaW for the offer. I would love to attend the get-together. I live in Yarmouth, next town west from Dennis so any date would be good for me.

We could either do June 30th, or July 1st, OR July 7th or 8th since it sounds as if a weekend would be best. I will also double-check with my sister as to when our July 4th softball game and barbeque is so it doesn't conflict. I think it's actually....on the 4th this year for a change :)
Any preferences??
Neat song too Napman. Never heard it!

My wife and I are looking forward to the get together. We are on the cape most weekends and will be there all July 4th week. We just got back from the cape tonight. We went over to Mayflower beach. What a beautiful sunny day it was. We first went to Chapins Beach but they were shooting a movie over there so we couldn't get on the beach. There's also a movie being shot over in Chatham right now. I guess Hollywood is on cape cod right now.

I'm in Eastern Connecticut, not too far away. When you get a firm date, I'll surely try to mosey up to visit. My wife (who plays as well) and I love The Cape, but usually only visit pre-Memorial Day or post Labor Day, to avoid the huge crowds. Keep me informed of your plans.

I may be up there during the beginning of July. My sons' in laws are renting a house and have extended an invitation to my wife and I to join them also. I don't know where it is but if its close and when I'm up there I will stop by. My "kids" are a little older tho. They are 26, 28, 30. Thanks, Pete

Fabulous!! How about Saturday the 7th? We could also do Friday the 6th or Thursday for that matter. Why doesn't everyone weigh in on a date that looks good and we'll all try to find one that works.

Friday feels good for some reason to me. Just because weekends can be hectic if you are coming or going. But if there are others coming though who would prefer a weekend, speak up cause Saturday isn't out of the question.

Do you think a singer would be a good addition to the group? I think we will have a 16 year old girl who is a great singer tagging along with us during the July 4th week so we can bring her too if everyone thinks it's a good idea. She has natural talent. What do you think?

Definitely bring her!

Most definitely bring the singer! Let's call it Friday the 6th then. That would work for me as I was just informed that there's a family dinner in P-Town Saturday evening. Can't miss it - too much fun!

I live in Worcester, MA. The cape is 1.5 hours away from me. I have a bro-inlaw living in Marston Mills and we visit them from time to time. I'll have to think about the jam. It would be great to meet some of the forum people from the Bay State.
