Anyone been to this version of Guitar Camp? I'm thinking of doing it this year (July 29 to Aug 4) and wonder if we got any veterans on the AGF? MY plan is to take Miss Vicki (as a non-student) and let her wander off to the Biltmore, etc. (Asheville, NC area)...I'll be pursuing guitar and songwriting classes....
TIA for any info!

Never been to the gathering Mr Tom, but if you go, see if you can get a room at the Monte Vista in Black Mountain. Then you can go play the 700 yd par 6 at the Golf course there - LOL. That area is so cool and the Monte Vista is a great B and B IMO (at least it was back when) I'll see if they possibly have a website and forward it to you.....

Well, after searching on the old threads and finding a lot of positive feedback, I jumped on in and registered for the Guitar and Contemporary folk week (July 29 to Aug 4)...I'll be sure to post my impressions when the event is over...

I've been to Guitar Week, Folk Week, and Dulcimer Week the past 3 years, and highly recommend the experience. Each event has a top notch staff of teachers and performers, and there are opportunitites to perform in the classes (depending on which ones you take), on stage at student concerts, and after hours in jams and/or song circles. The location is absolutely beautiful - a small college campus in the hills of Western North Carolina.
The best part of the experience for me was being among so many others with similar musical interests - people who understood and appreciated how much time and effort it takes to learn what we do, and how difficult it is to perform in front of others. This understanding and support allowed me to reach well beyond what I thought I could do.

Hey tbondo, the "gathering" is a great place to meet and greet as well as pick. While your here in our wonderful area you should check out "Shindig on the Green", downtown Asheville, every Sat. night, July through August. Bring the guitar, plenty of good jams, onstage and off. Ask around for other great local jams all during the week...most are welcome to participate. Welcome and have fun! P.S. Hey, don't knock the Ibanez(my old V310 with medium Elixcors, sounds great, IMO).
