Okay, if the first Taylorstock guitars began production 9/9, that means they should be finished up 9/19 or so (nine business days after beginning). Anyone know how long after production before the guitar reaches the dealer?
Let's assume 7 calendar days to get to the dealer, and 7 calendar days to get to the purchaser. That means the fist Taylorstock guitars hould be in the hands of the owner by October 3rd!
Ugh!! I'm not gonna make it.

I'm hoping for less than seven days to get to my dealer, since he's just across town from Taylor. And I plan to go pick it up myself, so the only shipping time after the dealer has it is the two hours or so it takes to drive down there. I don't know if my guitar actually went into production last week (does anyone ever get a line on this?) but if it did, I might have it sometime next week. This is very exciting!

Yeah... latest news... hot off the press! :)
They accidently cut the Ziricote for my 854CE as a GC instead of a GA.

.
So they e-mailed me some pictures of other wood that they had, one of which was stunning beyond belief! It also matches the sides better than the original wood. I didn't have a picture of my original Ziricote selection and honestly can't remember exactly what it looked like. Now I have a picture of the new wood. And they're moving forward building the guitar. :) Problem solved. I'm a happy camper! :D

Wow! I guess that's making lemonade out of lemons. Sorry to hear that your wood was incorrectly cut, but glad to hear your wood looks great!
Is there any way we can get an idea of whose guitar is being produced when? Even if my guitar was last on the list it would be really nice to see where in the schedule I am. This is asking a LOT, but I thought I would at least ask.
Hey, the single word "No" followed by a smiley face is an acceptable answer.

Okay JR,
How long was it before you got up off the floor and read the rest of the message?
I'm glad that it all worked out for you, but you realize they now have a great piece of wood available for a matching GC size guitar....:D I think your new one needs a mate...

I wouldn't be totally shocked to see a few guitars hit the dealers before Oct 3.
J.R. You should have told Taylor that as long as they got the wood cut for a GC, they might as well build you one of those too in addition to the other guitars you ordered.

HAHA!
Yeah... you're right. I should have milked that one a little bit: :)
Here's the new set. What'd'ya think?

David, it's really hard to say. They're really working on all the guitars in some stage. Like the Cocobolo is being cut and planed down and prepared to be made into backs, etc. As far as which guitars are where in production? Ed will not disclose that information and asks that we not call them to ask. They're ALL being worked on in some way at the moment. We can certainly guess at some of the ones that will be finished first. We were able to identify a good portion of that wood from the photos they sent. Hopefully more photos will be coming soon.

JR, that new piece they found for you is unreal! Congratulations on a very happy accident!

It's ok if Taylor does that to your guitar...but I hope they don't make a mistake on the rest of ours.
I never would have guessed perfect odds of all 51 guitars being made correctly. I'm just glad the mistake happened to you instead of me. j/k
It's funny how at Taylorstock I asked Jonathan this exact question and he cringed. He told me they'd email pictures of other wood if anything bad happened. Good thing there was a backup plan.

I wonder what an 852 would sound like?
Maybe I can find Jonathan's home phone number and we can check on each of the 51 guitars status every evening. Darn that's tempting.
Not serious Jonathan! :)

I got an e mail from Ed Alves today. His question was about the binding. I originally ordered the 812 with no cutaway, but changed my mind and asked him for the cutaway. He said just in the nick of time !!! My production card goes on the floor today !!!!! TODAY !!!!! That means they're starting to build the 8 series !!! So the 3, 4 , 5 etc. series must already all be in production !!! Who'll get theirs first ? I say ......cpmusic (Chris) because his is a 355 and he's not having it shipped. He's gonna pick it up ! And I bribed Steve to not call him till mine was done so.........

J.R.,
All I can say is this was one lucky mistake!!! I remember the set you picked out and thought it could not be topped. However, this new wood is absolutely gorgeous!!!
Best Regards,

Wow - that's a really sweet piece of wood JR! I agree with everyone else - since that "other" piece of Ziricote was cut for the wrong guitar then you should get it!
Maybe they'll make a "scratch and dent" exception??!?

I hope everyone is paying attention to how cool this is to have the great folks at Taylor dealing direct with us for the TS models....this has got to be real close to heaven!

JR, If my memory serves me correctly, this set of wood is nicer than your original set and we didn't think it got any better than than one. I don't know where they had this set but it is fabulous. I personally can't wait to see your guitar completed.
Well, maybe after I see mine. :)

Close? CLOSE?
Guitar Heaven indeed! Just not a whole lot more we could ask for. Well...except for perhaps a cot and a blanket right there in the production areas.

Yikes J. R. .....
....that's quite a story...... a scary one at that ....
I vaguely remember your wood and the configuration was gorgeous but I think this new set has it topped. Of course, this new set is 'easier' to look at also since it's a little further along in the process.
I'll gladly take your 'rejected' Ziricote in the form of a cute little 12 series. I've been crying in my milk for not ordering another to begin with.
Thanks for the update. (I hope some of the folks there at Taylor look in occasionally to see us giggling silly over our TaylorStock creations......and know how much we sincerely appreciate it.)
Later....

Ya know, J.R., I've been quietly hoping that they'd mess mine up "accidentally". I know that sounds wierd, but at TS, I looked at all the 900 RW sets and they all paled in comparison to the set I got with my MASM6. I also am kind of regretting not getting a 3pc back to match the MASM6.
So, if they mess my back-set up somehow(wink-wink Ed:)), I'd ask them for a 900 grade 3pc back again. That's kind of what happened with the MASM6 last year and also the reason why I didn't take any pictures with the wood sets I picked out. I didn't want to jinx it, again.
Considering the tremendous back/sides I got with the MASM6, I'd be fully confident with their choice. In fact, I showed the woman who was in charge of the RW wood grading that was there at TS(Janice? or Joan?) and she said that she remembered that Ed made her scour the stack and she said it took her 6 hours to find a set just right for a 900 grade 3pc back! I promptly thanked her and conveyed my gratitude further by showing her my guitar.
I actually like it when Taylor makes mistakes! I know how well they make up for it first hand!

Maybe Ed Alves had it stashed aside for his own personal guitar! :) I wouldn't be the least bit surprised, after he donated his pink poodle case for JW's guitar . . .
J.R., that wood is some real eye-candy! Makes me wonder how ziricote would sound with a cedar top . . .

That's good news indeed. I'm going to be in Hawaii for a couple weeks in October. I can't figure out which is worse...getting it the day before I leave, or having to wait til I get back.
BTW, did anybody else order an 814 with redwood? After so many were impressed with the TS guitar, I thought I'd see more than just mine.

I know that a lot of people ordered redwood tops. I think there were more than 20 sold, so I'm sure that the majority of them are x14's. Mine is a 514C African Mahogany / Redwood.
