Guys & Gals,

I've noticed quite a few numer of folks "wishing" they'd made it to Taylorstock. Perhaps the person feeling this most is me.

What are the logistics/possibilities of getting another group together for a trip?

Who organized this endeavor?

I obviously live in TX, but would be willing to help do some of the work to get it together. I'm dying to have a custom made. I've designed it all, etc. I can't think of a more enjoyable experience than somthing like Taylorstock.

I welcome any comments/questions.

Hope everyone is well.

It was a great experience, but I wouldn't count on it happening again any time soon. Conversations I had out there indicated that it wouldn't be happening again at least in the next 12 months.

As for ordering a custom guitar, you certainly don't have to wait until Taylorstock!

I'm going to crawl over in the corner and weep. :(

TX_TaylorPicker,

Don't weep just weep yet. Be patient and perhaps they will wnat to do antoher soon. Keep in mind that the first one was very successfull and it just took place last month.

BobT is a great guy. If it's feasable he will try to do it again. Thats my guess anyway. :)

Now Gutch, don't go starting rumors. :) I hate to be the one to say this... There are just no plans to do this again. None. I told everyone that this would be a once-in-a-lifetime event. I said it over and over and over... We had 100 slots and only filled 55 of them by the time the event came around. (Actually, we were all really glad that only 55 signed up because any more would have been too many, I think. We had just the right number of people there.)

If Taylor ever invites us back, you can bet we'll put it together again! (I'll be there with bells on!) But I want to squash rumors/expectations right here and now. Someone in another thread was saying that he couldn't wait until Taylorstock next year. What next year???

Now J.R.,

You gotta have a bettrer attitude about this!!! We PUTSNA's (Poor Underprivledged Taylorstock Non Attendees) need a Champion, such as yourself, to help us get there. Don't squash us... :(

{falls to the floor in a pool of self-pity, whining incoherently...}

 !!!! Believe me... I'm the biggest supporter of doing this again! But I want to be careful not to elevate anyone's expectations.

I'm sure there will be another TGF get together in the not too distant future. It probably won't be the full blown extravaganza that Taylorstock was. However, there was more to Taylorstock than custom guitars. The chance to meet folks from the forum was great, and I'm sure everyone is going to want to do it again. I know I want to have another meeting next year. Even if it's not in San Diego, or doesn't have all the INCREDIBLE features that Taylor provided for us, a get together would be great.

There's nothing stopping anyone from custom ordering a guitar from Taylor. You can pick up the phone right now and work with your dealer. It can happen for every person on the forum (given that you have the money).

David

I gotta agree with David_M on this. Meeting the people behind the screen names was the best part for me. Meeting BobT and his crew was incredible! Getting to choose wood for custom guitars was awesome, but icing on the cake!:)

David and Joe, you're so right.

I almost remember better the mornings when there were no events and we just hung out, met over breakfast out by the muffin and danish cart and obsessed about guitars than the afternoons.

Speaking for myself its something I don't get much chance to do and was a lot of fun. We should do some kind of national TGF get-together next year. If its at San Diego, that's great, but I don't think it needs to be a requirement. If not San Diego maybe somewhere in either the center or the right side of the country to make it easier for those who live further away from CA.

OK, so how about it????

I have an idea! Let's all meet in Washington, DC for a national get-together next Aug. Great place to visit, tons to do for the family, and close to a lot of people. All us east coasters went to the west coast, now it's time for you guys to come out here. :)

I wish I could have gone to Taylorstock because:

The chance to meet everyone face to face.

See the factory. (I've never been and really want to go.)

Meet BobT and the gang.

The wood grading seminar. (Maybe it's on the video.)

Even if I had gone I probably couldn't get a New guitar with my current situation. So that really not the big deal.

Oh yeah and I was telling my wife last night. I missed the opportunity to go Dumpster Diving at the Taylor Factory. I want a Koa Soundhole Darn it. :(

;)

It doesn't have to be at Taylor for us to have a get together.

We could all just pick a place and have a get together and sit around for a weekend playing everyone's guitars and just making a bunch of racket in general. :)

Hey, it's an idea. ;)

I'm chiming in here about a TGF national get together........I'm ready....there's a bunch of regional action going on, and I'm going to try and get to some of those...like TimB, I wish we'd had more time (at TS) to get together without the omnipresence of schedule, and enjoyed meeting my fellow lunatics there.....very much!!!!!...you folks are the people that I most identify with (outside of work- which I hope to give up some day soon), and I would love to meet more of you, do some jamming, and some show and tell of our treasured Taylors.

Count me in (but DC in August???? C'mon Jennifer, that's not a good time for DC!).

An annual get together in San Diego in August would be an awesome thing, but hows about quarterly Regional GTs?

But you know, Florida in Winter, New York or New England in the Fall, DC in the spring (sakura -- cherry blossoms) and San Diego in the summer as the big "Annual GT."

BTW, One trip to the Big Apple will cure all those "Oh, the T&C was so expensive" comments the first night!! So maybe it better be in Connecticut!:) :)

In a way we already have regionals, for all intents and purposes Rick's doing them in NC. Just takes someone to take the initiative in Chicago, Boston/NY, Seattle, Florida (!!!), etc. (My apologies if I missed your regional hub.)

But something big and national in the summer vacation would be great. Its easier for folks to attend, tie it into somewhere that's family-friendly and there's a justification to those with children and/or a significant other to persuade.

Joe makes a good point about hotel costs, while I had some minor issues with T&C it wasn't that expensive based on what I've seen.

Darnit, if we could get 8 people in my basement I don't see why we couldn't do 30-40 at some cool place for 2-3 days.

Hey! There is nothing wrong with DC in August. I don't understand why people complain. It's not that bad at all. But somewhere in the Northeast is ok also. I remember at Taylorstock Gutch and rlwing discusing how it would be nice to rent a bunch of cabins and hang out in the mountains. I think that would be a blast.

We should start throwing out some serious ideas. This will take some time to get everything together since we'd be doing all the work. Taylor isn't there to help us on the next one. haha

I wasn't complaining about cost either. It was just the cross-town commute for a place that really wasn't all that nice and facilities I had no time to use. I'd have just rathered eliminate all of that and stay closer to Taylor. :)

Not to put a damper on the discussions, but having been to 3 previous PRS Forum events (w/a 4th on tap!), one of the biggest parts of the weekend is the factory tour. I know meeting all the people is great, but I think that many would not come if it wasn't at the Taylor Factory. Then again, YMMV!

James ...and you could well be right Mr M.

However we'll never know unless we test the waters, right? :)

Watching the leaves change colors from Ryan's stairwell might be OK.....akin to cabins in the mountains? I would think you'd need a Taylor dealer participation at a minimum (ala NC get togethers) for any gathering.....ut oh, I've become a Taylor-holic

Chicago is not the regional hub for the southwest, nor is Florida. Try Dallas.

How about one in the mountains of Colorado? A little cold in the winter, but we could sit by the fireplace and jam.
