Well, all the orders have been completed and matched up with their proper wood sets. 51 guitars in all!

Taylor is now working the guitars into the production schedule. The first guitars are scheduled to begin on Monday, September 9th, starting with the 300's and 400's that were ordered, as well as some of the more straightforward configurations of the upper-end guitars. Custom shop special inlay guitars will be completed by the Taylor custom shop team separately, so we may actually see some of those quicker than expected. Stay tuned.... Who will be the first to get their Taylorstock guitar?

I'm going to start a special section of the Taylor Gallery - The TaylorStock Guitar registry, where these one-of-a-kind guitars will be featured.

I have been meaning to start a thread with this burning question for all you lucky T-stock guitar order folks but I may as well throw it up here,,, We all know that your guitars will be absolutely beautiful and so personal to each of you but I have to ask,, What if you just really dont like the way your t-stock guitar sounds???? This isn't meant to be a wise-guy question. I honestly want to know what some of you will do, think, feel or whatever if you just hate the sound? I know very well from going through a whole bunch of very nice Taylors the past couple years that it can take a while to find that special "one" and I have wanted to order my own special tobacco burst 510 or 710 but I am afraid of waiting all that time only to find that it's not as I had hoped. Any of you T-stock guitar folks thought of this?

I certainly have, but it won't really matter. I have rarely, if ever, played a Taylor that I didn't like. Sure, some sound better than others, but I really think they all sound great. Maybe I am just too much a Taylor fan.

I have no idea how a satinwood/Engelmann 314c will sound, but Bob helped me pick it out and I know I will love it. The maple Ltd's will have to sound good. Has there ever been a maple that didn't sound great.

I am so excited about getting my guitars!

Well- ive never played a rosewood/engelmann Taylor i didnt like, so im pretty confident in my 914...

The one thing I am worried about, though, on this same topic is the people who got redwood...simply because I KNOW that not everyone who got redwood has played a redwood guitar extensively, (maybe even limited only to what was on stage) and I hope it pairs up with different back/side woods as well as it did with the rosewood...i would hate to see anyone disappointed with their guitars and while many of us have played hundreds of different spruce guitars in our lives, I know alot of us have only played one redwood...

Anyway, I cant wait till I get mine!

I say we start a pool on this one. We take all the money made in the pool and start bribing them to do another Taylorstock...

Since I sold my only Taylor - only acoustic for that matter - I get the feeling the T-Stock 814ce Ltd will be welcomed with open arms when it arrives. I had the opportunity to play the Cocobolo/Sitka pretty extensively while there and really like the tone. Played the "V" Neck that I ordered on a prototype in the office, and fell in love with how comfortable it was in my hand.

Overall, I feel very confident that this is going to be a keeper!

Thanks for the info, J.R.! It looks like that trip to Taylor next week won't get me any glimpses of my TS guitar on the line, but I'm not complaining. It was kind of a long shot anyway, and seeing the guitar in production would have just been a little extra icing on a very rich cake.

I've had the same thought about not hearing my guitar before buying it, but I feel pretty confident that it'll turn out well, given the quality and stiffness of the top Bob picked out for it. And hey, it'll be maple -- how could it miss?

Since it's a 300, it'll be one of the early ones in production, which is pretty cool. I feel a little guilty about going to the head of the line with a lower-end guitar, but I'll get over it. :)

Now, if I could just get over the waiting....

Once again, thanks to Uncle Bob and his staff (and J.R., of course) for a great experience!

Well since I sadly had to forgo the inlay (*cry*), I wonder when/in what capacity mine will get finished? :)

No worries. I'm actually a really patient person. Hehe.

Too patient at times (which is likely why I'm getting it sans inlay).

I asked Pete Jr today about the status of the inlay request on both my and your guitars and he said it was in Ed Alves' hands. If Ed says yes then I expect Pete will forward a price quote and I can go from there. It would just get added to my order. Should be the same for you. If you still want the inlay, just ask for it. There is still plenty of time to do it.:)

J.R., Thanks for the update!

Well I gave a deposit on the price sans-inlay. So it really wouldn't be prudent to the retailer for me to do that now. It's ok. All the fuss honestly has ruined it for me sort of.

It will commemorate my father, inlay or not. :)

I personally can't imagine not liking the guitar I ordered.

Even if it does not sound exactly like I pictured it would, there is no doubt it will have a sound that I will fall in love with after playing it for a short period of time.

I have guitars that I would never have bought the first few times I played them, but would never part with now. Guitars are just like that, if they play well the tone grows on you. If for any reason it doesn't play well I am sure that Uncle Bob will make any corrections needed to make sure it does, so I am not at all worried.

That's exciting, seldom is it a good thing to not be able to afford much, so this is a bonus to us who were hanging around the 300 & 400 table!
Now, if Mr. Taylor pairs his pick of englemann tops to the gorgeous ovangkol we got, then I would have to say it indeed will be a dream come true! We were so caught up in the moment we didn't even think to ask him!

I know I'm gonna love this guitar!!!! No doubts about that.

Since I ordered an 814c (no e) in EI rosewood and redwood, I'm hoping it sounds very similar to the one at TS. I've played very few Taylors I didn't like, and no cedar topped ones that I didn't like. Since redwood is very similar to cedar, I trust that all will be well.

Thanks for posting this sched, J.R.

I used to worry about whether or not I'd like the sound of a special ordered guitar, but so far I've never been disappointed with either the Taylors or Goodalls I've ordered and bought. My very first Taylor was bought sight unseen and it knocked my socks off (though I also was afraid to play it for fear I'd mess it up). After that I've had seven Taylors which I've bought sight unseen and was only disappointed with one (ended up getting something else) ... I grew out of the sound of three of them, but loved them when I had them.

As for the one I chose at TaylorStock, I'm not worried about how it's going to sound as BT chose the soundboard for it with the back and sides in mind. He knew what I wanted from the guitar and chose accordingly. And I have a suspicion that it's going to surpass my thoughts on sound.

My deposit is also sans inlay. Same dealer, they are aware of the possibility of the price going up. (They won't mind!) Doesn't mean it won't happen. Keep the faith, bro! And IF it is meant to happen it will, and if it ain't meant to happen, it won't.

I think Pete is on our side!:)

What will these Taylor Stock guitars cost. Are they off the retail price list and above or did Taylor cut you some slack due to TGF?

cpmusic

Taylor priced the guitars according to their regular list prices (the pamphlet that you can download from their site) and added options at list price as well. Since Taylor doesn't sell directly to consumers, there was no price to cut from their perspective. Each of us took our order form to an authorized dealer and worked out the final purchase price with them.

Didn't happen:(

It was fun to think about though!

I ordered EI rosewood and redwood, so it should sound somewhat like the 814 built for Taylorstock, with the 14 to 12 difference.....but, I imagine that most TS guitars will be like children, even if they are different than our ideal, we keep them anyway.

Trust me Tom,

As long as you will pay the bills and fork out the cash when she needs it, she won't go anywhere.

I know first hand four times over. Lol.

I have 2 in college, a senior in high school. and a 11yr old.
all very good kids but they are going to ride the money train to derailment. Be glad you only have one princess, that's all anyone should be required.

Becki is great but I bet she is just as expensive as any one of mine.

God help all us parents, because it never ends.

Joe,

Both Vicki and Becki say Hello, how are you doing?

Keith, well, I don't know about bringing it to work......maybe you need to visit my Taylor ranch (where the Taylors roam free?)...but you definitely will want to check out the PS and the TS.

You mean I could actually play them????? (where's that old Kenny-whopper belt-buckle I used to have.... -- just kidding!!!)

Keith,

Absolutely....I would appreciate proper care and handling, but guitars are made to be played...my wife and daughter think I've been abusing the PS14, cause I've been having so much fun playing it...goes from a whisper to a growl in less than 4 seconds w/o breaking a sweat...that Braz is something else. I'd like to hear the differences between my Koa, Mahogany, and Braz rosewood from out front.....452-0171
