Went to the concert in downtown Columbus last night. Great show with lasers and lights, deep thumping bass. Highly recommended if anyone has a chance to see them near you!

Asked the sound man about the guitars they were playing. They looked like Strats, but turned out to be custom made guitars by "Ernie Ball" really nice looking. Headstock had 4 tuners on one side and two on the other, that's how I knew it wasn't a strat.

They did a show in Boston not too long ago. I didn't go and wish I did. Glad to hear it was a good show.

Me, too. Amazing how exact they played. Note for note. Pretty cool.

Unfortunately, that's exactly what you get. Note-for-note. No emotion, feeling, energy, or meaning. Watch the PBS show, then listen to the real "Wish You Were Here." Or "The Wall." Absolutely no comparison. Some cover bands are cute, some even make decent music. But I'm afraid those boys from Down Under need to keep their day jobs. Pink Floyd isn't only about the music, it's also about the message. No one can imitate that, I'm afraid.

Is this the same thread as last time? This is the second time I've read about these dudes in a month. Are they really called "The Australian Pink Floyd"? This is not a band I usually see "tribute" groups going after (another example of that was "Steely Dan"--anyone ever see too many groups covering "Dan" material? Usually, IMO, it was too complex). Anyhow...is "Floyd" Officially not any more? Can one call oneself "The Canadian Rolling Stones" or whatever? Sorry to be so clueless, but on this one I am.

They are calling themselves the Australian Pink Floyd. I do believe that has been blessed by Gilmore and Waters as they both have watched the group and really liked them according to some reports I have read.

My area is ripe with Tribute bands. The local Pink Floyd tribute is called "The Machine". Talented but not Pink Floyd but that's why the ticket price is usually ten bucks or so. Our local Zep Tribute band is called Physical Graffiti. The Ozzy tribute is called S.A.T.O.. The singer looks and sounds like Ozzy. I don't know if that is a compliment but the resemblance is uncanny... Of course there are many other Tribute bands around here as well. It usually makes for a cool outing...:)
