Cell, pager, home, anything other than work.
He's off today. :(
I wasn't able to get back to him Saturday and still have not placed my Taylorstock Guitar order due to no one really being able to give me a straight "yes" or "no" about the inlay for my guitar.
I'd decided to just say "screw the inlay" altogether and just get the guitar. I planned on calling Steve today at work, giving him whatever he needed to order it and being done with it.
Well he's off today and probably at Taylor placing orders.
Today is the 26th, so it looks like I may not be getting a Taylorstock guitar at all now.
Oh well.

I have his number but it's at home, which does you absolutely no good right now. Unless someone else has it, send Steve an email and then call/fax the store regarding your order. I'm sure someone else there knows the score and could write it up and send it in for you since Steve is off.
Also, put in a call to Taylor to let them know what's going on. If the order is faxed in today you'll probably be all right, but just in case, it's a good CYA plan. Because of the communication problem, I can't see why Taylor wouldn't cut you a little slack if your order was a day late.

Well I've already emailed Steve and I did call the store.
The guy I talked to, no idea what his name is, gave me the "uh, I dunno anything about that really" when I mentioned the words "Taylorstock Guitar" and "Steve going to Taylor today".
Hopefully Steve will get back to me before his store closes today (even though he's not there).
I swear I thought he told me he was going to Taylor today to turn all the orders in.

JEFFREY!!!!!!!
Steve has Mondays OFF I think! So get your butt over to a fax machine, SIGN that order and FAX it to GT AND fax a copy to TAYLOR attn: Ed Alves (it couldn't hurt).
I still don't have my inlay pricing or go-ahead either, but I placed the order with the idea that that stuff would be PENDING.
Write a note ON THE ORDER about still waiting for the inlay verdict.
Call the store back and tell them you are faxing an order which MUST be placed with Taylor by close of business today! They will requirte a 25% deposit on your plastic as well. Ask for the store owner, he knows the deal, if you can't find Steve.
Also e-mail Pete Jr and tell him you are faxing the order to Steve at GT and a copy to Ed and ask him again what the staus is.
GET THE ORDER IN! Don't let this slide by, bro! This is once-in-a-lifetime stuff! And you are (almost) old enough to appreciate what that means!:)
Well? stop reading and get to work!!;)

Thom Beebe is the General Manager there and he was the one with Steve that night at Dave/Busters. He definitely knows what is going on. If you can't get in contact with Steve, try Thom.

Joe, I'd be happy to, but it's on my PC at home and I don't get home until about 5:00 PM, which is when Taylor's office closes for the day.
Jeffrey, if you still want the number, email me with a number where I can reach you at 5:00 PM Pacific Time, and I'll call you when I get home.

All is well.
Steve got my email and called me. He went to work and we did the fax game and got it all taken care of.
No drama. Sorry if I sounded someone manic. :)

No worries, Jeffrey. Hey, if I were in your position, I'd have been sweating bullets! I'm glad you got it worked out, and hope that Taylor can make it work for you on the inlays.
I placed a true custom order with Taylor back in early January. They couldn't give me difinitive answers on a couple of the requests for more than 3 weeks after I placed the order. I was uncomfortable with the wait, so I just made sure to comminicate what I wanted in writing directly with Taylor and copied my dealer, and all was well in the end. Turns out the order took 90 days, but my guitar didn't go into production until about 60 days after I ordered... so I had plenty of time to sort it out.
The Taylorstock guitars may be on a shorter schedule, but I would guess there's a little time to iron out the inlay issue before they start working on your guitar... unless they bumped you to the front of the line. And I'm on the opposite side of the fence from meridian on this one. Specifically, because this is a one-in-a-lifetime opportunity, make sure to get it the way you want it. No compromise, no regrets.
Sheesh, I'm jealous of you guys even talking about this.:)

Well I'm going the no inlay route.
It was too much of a hassle right now so f it. :P
Maybe later on another guitar or something.
Plus, if I had done the custom inlay, I'd have had to pay for it in full in advance (which I could've done, but I'd rather not do).
This way I gave him about 40% or so as a deposit (maybe a little less).

YOU sounded manic! I was MANIC!!!!! I couldn't believe this might get away from you!
Glad it worked out.:)
jira, you and I are NOT on opposite sides on this, I simply made sure to get my order in knowing both that there was a deadline AND that Pete Davies Jr was going to take the inlay question up with Bob T and Ed Alves when he could get them to consider it. There IS a pretty good chance that Taylor cannot do the inlays for legal issues. That doesn't mean I'm gonna cancel the whole guitar!

Out of curiousity, what did you have in mind to do as inlays?

I'll let Jeffrey tell you about his inlay request. But it was hearing him tell about it on the way home late that Saturday night from Taylor that got me thinking about it as well.
I have requested that they allow me to put a version of the sea turtle from the back of the GSST on the backs of my two TS guitars. By "version," I mean made of stained wood rather than shell, possibly larger, smaller or flipped as I have been told there are possible legal issues regarding the use of the identical inlay as on the GSST.
While it is way too long and personal a tale to tell here, this would be a tribute to my late partner. Our home has at least a dozen artistic renderings of sea turtles made of wood, stone, pewter, glass, and one in a very large painting. Think of it as a "spirit animal" something along those lines. Anyway, it would mean a great deal to me (if BobT decides they can allow it).
I hadn't seen the GSST and didn't realize that they did or even could put inlays like this on the backs of guitars when Ed Alves and I prepared my order. I called Pete Davies Jr on the following Monday to make the request. But like Jeffrey, I still haven't heard back yes or no.
Jeffrey's request is similarly personal.

Good Ol'e Steve
I also needed to get ahold of him this last weekend
( Before Monday the 26th ) regarding a minor change.
Well, to make a long storie short Steve does check his E-mail regularly thank god. He got back to me in short order.
I think there are several of us that owe Steve Parr and guitar trader a BIG thank you. Steve spent his day off on monday, at Taylor meeting with his rep to place last minute orders and taking care of last minute changes for some us that are truly obsessed with getting that once in a life time guitar just perfect.
Thanks again Steve.
