with the Aug 26 deadline just around the corner i was just wondering if we could still order a taylorstock guitar even though we did not pick the wood at the event. i'm jus toying with the idea of ordering a 354c ltd. maple 12 string to go with my 814c ltd. coco redwood.

my *guess* is that the answer is no...if you look on the Taylorstock rules sheet, it says that the Taylorstock guidelines are ONLY valid August 10, 2002.
Im just fortunate I got my one baby :)

I believe that Ryan is correct (again!). If you didn't work with Ed on Saturday, that door is now closed.

While Ryan is probably right (when has he been wrong -- Jennifer, feel free to jump in here ;) ), just call and ask. What can they say "no"?
Well, yeah, they can say "no." Ask anyway. Monday is the day!

Since you're not choosing the wood, what's the problem with just ordering a 354c-ltd? The big part of TS was getting to choose the wood.

I had the same thought as Buddiesorg. The 354ce-LTD is part of this year's regular lineup, so getting one should be no problem. I imagine you could even order one without the C or E if you wanted. If you're concerned about the wood, check with local dealers and see if any of them will be getting one so you can view and play it before you buy.

.....along these same lines......
My *ONLY* regret from TaylorStock is *not* ordering two guitars.......
What could I have been thinking. Or not thinking.
I was so excited (...and still am....) about being able to get the guitar that I had been mentally building . Hindsight is truly 20/20 at times.......
Even if one were allowed to order another at this late date, it just wouldn't be the same as choosing the wood in raw form.

Those of us who only ordered one and wish we had ordered two should have a get-together so we can cry about it. I've been kicking myself for two weeks. Maybe when my redwood 814c gets here, I'll give myself a break. Then again, I might kick harder.:)

While I completely understand the regret some of you might feel having only ordered one, I am looking at my purchase of one guitar from a different perspective.
This guitar is going to be very special to me, as Im sure all of yours will be to each of you as well, but I feel like if I had gotten two, it would have depleted the significance of each individual guitar. I am going to get one guitar that was hand picked, and customized, and I dont need to worry about neglecting one, or if finances should turn sour that I should have to sell one.
Its much easier for me to look at one guitar as THE symbol of Taylorstock for me, as well as the general wonderfulness of that weekend rather than 2 guitars which would, for me at least, have been reduced to "really really cool guitars I got at Taylorstock"
Im sure this is just probably how my mind works, and believe me, if i had the money, I would have gotten 2 of em, but Im not kicking myself :)
2 guitars, 1 guitar, no guitars, whatever I wouldve walked away with, it was still the time of my life!

Gee, Ryan, thanks a lot. Just when I was having fun regretting not ordering two...you make me feel guilty.
Actually, one of the nice things of a TS guitar is that I'll never feel free to sell it even if we're bankrupt. I suspect that most of us will hang on to them a very long time.

I actually did something similar to Ryan, but with 2 guitars. The 810-LTD I ordered is really meant to be MY Taylor with 2 pc Cocobolo, Gothic Vine Inlay and ebony HS (and hopefullly a sea turtle on the back). THIS will be the ONE guitar that will go the distance with me.
The 654CE-LTD, while customized a bit (with a flamey neck and the Cindy inlay, no Blender) while still awfully special, is the guitar I would have given up if they had limited us to one. I figured that I could pick out the wood for a second guitar and then take the 2 weeks before it HAD to be ordered (which is tommorow BTW) to see if I could really swing it. I really can't but I am going to anyway.:)
But I probably could have been ALMOST as happy with an off-the shelf 654CE-LTD as I expect to be with my TS ordered one.
It was definitely the time of my life, too!

Ryan, if you keep repeating that, you might actually convince yourself! That's my mindset, anyway. :D
Seriously, I hadn't thought about this particular regret until now, but I have felt a little foolish for passing up the opportunity for master grade wood, wood binding, upgraded inlays appointments, etc.
OTOH, my CWPSM is what I could reasonably afford, and with some very pretty "low grade" maple, high grade Sitka, and a model that's not part of the regular LTD lineup, it'll still be special, even if it's not visually obvious.
In other words, I think Ryan has the right idea.

I hate it when he's right. He's too young to be right.:ha:

I'm thrilled I had the chance to order two. Something like that doesn't come along very often. I'm going to be eating rice and pasta for awhile, but it will be worth it.
I don't think ordering two will make either one less special. Picking the woods for two was just as special an experience as for one. If your wife had twins instead of only one baby, wouldn't you love them both?

Yes, but then you have no true firstborn...
Of course, all would be loved the same, and we can get technical and say that one twin was born minutes earlier, but there is always an extra little asterisk involved with a firstborn, I think. Do you love any other children less? not in the least bit...am I making sense? who knows!?!?!

No, the TaylorStock guitars were available only on that day, with the exception of the few that had to be ordered later due to some questions that needed to be answered. By now, everything is finalized and set in stone, so to speak. I believe that they're going to begin production this week. They already have all the wood sorted and it's sitting in the performance hall ready to be pulled for production. As Bob stated, they're going to walk these through production a few per day, until they are finished.
I looked at this as a chance in a lifetime, and ordered two guitars. Yes, I'm having to sell two to pay for them... :) But it's worth it. Guitars come and go, but these will last a lifetime.
Also, I'm working with Pete Davies Jr. on a separate completely custom shop guitar. Stay tuned.... !

I also wish I could have ordered two...but I'm very happy with my one, especially since it's going to be my 1st Taylor :)
Besides, that would have started TAS for me ;)
Now...can't they do the same as the prototypes and just get it to me in 24 hours??!?
