Yeah, it IS a bit of both, with a lillte "cursed" thrown in (ask the non-guitar playing significant others!)
BTW, in my original post I make reference to a few members who could just post a link to their databases. They have more guitars than I have DVDs--or BVDs for that matter!

Sheesh there's some serious collectors here. No Taylors yet in my collection. I come here as I'm very interested in them. I'll probably have to finance or layaway one eventually. I want a 314CE though.
But for now my guitars that will do are:
Fender GA45SCE
Fender Mexican Stratocaster, humbucker in the bridge
Fender DG-7 (my knock around guitar)
Epiphone, double cut, single pickup in the bridge. Serves mostly as decoration now.
15 watt Fender frontman practice amp
This weekend I'm checking out a friend's Fender Roc Pro 1000 head with a homemade cabinet, four speakers. Think I'm gonna buy it.

At the moment no Taylors, just one little Guild F4ce but the next purchase is a Taylor.
Any recommendations on a mid range model with electronics?
Thanks,
chuck

Here's a great incentive for anyone still smoking and saying they can't afford more guitars. I should know, I'm an EX-smoker that was doing 2 packs plus a day.
$5.00 a pack (more in some states, less in others)
2 1/2 packs a day = $12.50 X 7 days = $87.50 X 52 weeks = $4,550.00 - That's right $4,550.00.
That's serious guitar money and you'll have pently of time to keep those hands busy with your new guitars. It's much better than a cig!:)
With a good discount it won't take long to get any kind of guitar you want, or add it up over a few years and that's a bunch of guitars.
Hope this might inspire someone who's still stuck with a habit they would rather not be. And if it does - good luck and enjoy that/ those new guitars.

Thanks Cisco. It was one of the best things I've ever done. It doesn't seem tough now, but it sure was back then. I've now adopted a practice of not buying guitars unless selling of others is involved. That way I can use the savings from not smoking to pay off the credit debt for those guitars that I just couldn't pass up. Now if I can stick to that,....

I've often tried to put quitting in that perspective; I smoke about a pack to a pack and a half a day right now.
I've tried to quit countless times; just never seems to take. I've tried cold-turkey, cessation, gum; nothing's worked thus far. I haven't tried the patches yet; I've heard some not so good stories about them.
Always open for suggestion...

Steve,
Just draw a mental piicture of us vultures rummaging thru your guitars at the yard sale after you cop it. There's some incentive for ya'!

Past:
Hohner HS Special strat copy, wine red, (horrible sound)
Hohner Dreadnought, unknown model, laminated (inch high action, ouch!)
Fender std Strat, midnight blue, (v/good guitar for the money)
Norman B20 folk (first real acoustic, great playability, good sound)
Taylor 412 spruce/ovankol, Fishman rare earth blender (great sound, dynamics)
Now:
Lakewood A14 soft cutaway cedar/mah custom (v/sweet)
Lakewood M20 engelmann/maple custom (v/dynamic, exciting sound)
M. Seeligar C-12 Nylon (good sound, v/good value)
Fender std strat, sage green with kinman avn blues pickups (very Clapton esq sound)
That Norman B20 folk with the frets removed and nylon instead of steel! Very different!
Future?
Yamaha hand made classical to replace C-12, (not for a while though!) and dare I mention it? I'd love to have a Martin 000-28ec, but that's when im published and making millions...
