Well thanks to my wife having her 20 year high school reunion this evening, I did not get to stay for the duration. Let's just say that there is only one thing that sucks about MonroeStock. The fact that you have to wait a year between each one.
What a great day it was and it is still going strong
It started with a fine performance by Tim Murray followed by an open mic session that was excellent. Wade's GS sounded great plugged and unplugged and so did he and the others I heard. After lunching on some fine barbecue, we were treated to a great guitar/vocal/dulcimer performance by our own Chicago Sandy. Great job Sandy! I enjoyed every minute.
Next up was the illustrious Allen Shadd (Pistolero). After watching him play one would have to wonder how fingers can possibly move that fast. Wow! He brought Jim Tozier up for a couple of very fine instrumental duets and then his lady Lauren (lcoggins) came up for some simply outstanding vocal work to accompany Allen's playing. Guys, you MUST cut a CD together soon. You sound amazing.
All in all it was an incredible day as usual. I am so bummed that I had to miss the rest of it. TBondo was just stepping up to the afternoon open mic when I had to depart. I told my wife she would have another reunion in 10 years, but she didn't bend. Oh well. I'm sure other reports will be coming in soon.
Thanks to Marion Holloway and all of the staff for this event. Also to my bro michaelw of Holloways for all of his hard work. It is just the best. Thanks to Rick Crider also for being the voice of MonroeStock that get's us all riled up to get there.
