Hey, everyone. Please refrain from any discussions around the purchase of your Taylorstock guitar. I request that we please refrain from these types of discussions on the forum - Basically, any discussion surrounding the pricing or purchase of the TaylorStock guitars. This subject is between you, your dealer, and Taylor, and no one else.
You're certainly welcome to talk about the guitars all you want. But there are issues around the sales of these guitars that are too sticky, controversial, and sensitive to talk about on the public forum. Trust me on this one. Pretty please? With sugar on top? :)
If you have any questions, please e-mail me directly.
Thanks in advance,
J.R.

Thank you, JR, for making my faux-pas a prime example of what not to do. :(
I've been praying to walk in more humility, I guess this is part of the answer.

Sorry, Hondo. That wasn't the intent. Your message was a perfectly innocent question. Maybe I should have just cut and pasted my reply, eh? :) I've fixed it.

Regarding "No Pricing" please.
1. retail prices are OK, right?
and
2. can we discuss used prices?
3 is there already a discussion of all this that you can point me to so I don't accidentally make with the . . . how you say faux pas?

Joe-
I think the consensus is that we avoid ALL price discussions...
List prices can be found on the Taylor site, and maybe buried deep within the threads of this board, and I think JR would prefer that we point people to these rather than publish here...
Also, percentage off of list discussions are not allowed as Im sure you could guess
Used prices seem to be OK ONLY in the general marketplace and ONLY when being discussed in relation to a guitar that is for sale on the site...but we cant use the GMP forum as an excuse to talk prices...
This seems to be the extent of both the black and white, and gray rules on the pricing...when in doubt, use email. Cant get in trouble for that...
:)

Is it "legal" for me to ask someone to e-mail me what percentage off retail I should expect to be able to negotiate with a dealer?
Hope so... otherwise.... Oops!

That's the common way to do it, Joe. Taking it off line to personal email is the prefereed method, and plenty of folks here are very happy to help you out.
Hope this helps,
Dave

Yup- very legal, and most all of us are glad to carry on email correspondence about price. I get at least one a day, and I love helping where I can!

So Ryan,
Can you e-mail what percentage off retail I can expect to negotiate with a dealer?
Thanks,
