It's been a good bit of time since I've been lurking here on the AGF, but in my time either active or inactive, I've always wanted to have or attend a get-together. While I'd like to go to MonroeStock, an 11ish-hour, one-way drive for a day might be tough on my schedule. So, for those in the Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana tri-state area (or farther, if you're willing to travel here) that would like to gather, eat, and jam, I'll try my hand at organizing a wee gathering if'n there's enough interest to make it worth everyone's while. Y'all feel free to post here or PM me.

It's actually more like 9 1/2 hours from Cincy... it's 8 from Louisville. I'm not in Louisville now, or I'd take you up on it though!

Hey Les,
Ya might consider using the www.somusicfest.com as a meeting place in Novemeber. It is about midway between Columbus and Cinci. There will be lots of jamming going on before and after the show. We will also have a booth and our guitars will be on display and available to test drive as well ;)

Hey! I'm in Cincinnati as well, and I'd be REALLY interested in a get-together, as long as nobody is upset that my talents don't deserve such nice gear...
Peace,

Couple thoughts - David Grier is going to be playing in Indianapolis on Thursday night if you're into flatpicking.
Over on the UMGF I've been attempting to organize a jam this Friday night in Indianapolis. Don't know if it's going to come off, but anyone would be welcome if you're in the area. 6:00 p.m. until whenever, PM me for directions.

Okay, this is good, we're moving along :) . schizorage, don't feel bad about your skill; you've probably got more than I do, but I play on with my oh-so-fine gear!
Anyway, Tim, I'll check on my availability for the weekend of Nov 17, but I could probably make it up there for a day if anyone wants to meet up and lurk (I wanna try one o' those McKnights!). Likewise, if any of y'all're interested in hosting or have a suggestion for the tri-state area to meet (I've lived in Cinti for over a year and still haven't eaten at either of the Montgomery Inns, hint hint), that'd be great.
An Indy trip this week would be a bit short notice for me, but i would if I could make it! It's always great to meet fellow guitarists, so feel free to PM me as other opportunities come up in the near vicinity (that, and I've never been to Indy ... I hear it's fun ;) ).

I live about 10 minutes from the Montgomery Inn in old Montgomery...
and I'm planning on going to the convention in November...

You know when I first saw the title of this post I was excited because I thought I might meet someone local to help me with my playing ( or lack of),but from the shortage of responses it's obvious that there are not that many guitarist in the area who are interested in this. I would love to find a group to meet on a somewhat regular basis. I sought and took lessons for a couple of months and knew I wasn't that good but when the teacher quite showing up it really deflated me.

What part of town are you from?

I'm from the west side of Cincy with questionable talent, but interest in a regular meeting/jam/whatever.

Yeah, I'm not good, but I'd really like to have a regular meeting of some sort... I'm in the Sharonville/Mason/Blue Ash area... North of Cincy...

I'm originally from Louisville and have friends and family that still live there. If you folks have a get together, someone let me know and I'll see if I can find an excuse to visit.

I didnt know we had so many Cincy people on this forum. From Westwood myself.

As far as I can tell looking at the above post there are only 4 people from Cincinnati, sure seems like a relatively small number to me. I would have thought that the response to a get together would have been greater.

4-5 people works for me. Who's going to oranize this (I'm much more of a follower myself)?

Well, considering it would be something fairly informal, it might simply be brainstorming time. I'll try to think of places we could all meet, but right now nothing comes to mind...

I'm in SE Indiana not too far from Perfect North Slope, I might be able to make it depending on location, date, and time. Like others have posted, I have dreams of being a real guitar player, I just need some talent!

TALENT? I quess I'm gonna have to pass on this get together if it takes place.

Let me clarify my message. I was referring to my lack of talent, not that the get together required talent! ;)

I disappear for a few days and more Cinti folk appear out of the wood work! I'm living in the Pleasant Ridge area but am found anywhere between downtown and Mason with daily excursions to Evendale and Sharonville. I've got a couple of friends in West Chester who are both Taylor owners that may be interested if we can make this concrete :D .
I can set it up so we can meet up at Good Shepherd on E Kemper by Montgomery Rd. It'd be easy for me to reserve a room or two depending on when. Post here and we'll see how this pans out!

I'm all for it... strangely, I live less than a mile from there... and I don't know the place...
too much time indoors with my guitars?
I'm free after 6 on weekdays, 2 on saturdays and all day sundays... and I'm off the week of 10-23 if anything occurred that soon.

Tell me, do you live in Cincinnati? Seem to me that a jam session of 4 or 5 acoustic guitarist is a good number.

Having never been to a jam session, I don't know what a good number is. I am really a beginner when it comes to the guitar even though I am soon to turn 50. If I touched a nerve with you, I am sorry. I just thought in the city the size of Cincinnati, the response would have been far greater. If only 1 or 2 were at such an event I am sure I could still learn a tremendous amount. I am a resident of White Oak which is in Cincinnati.

No harm done. Just wondering if you were from Cincy. Im right down the road in Westwood. Glad to see you taken up guitar. There is really no age that is too old or too young. Been playing for a while and a small group of 4 or 5 give everyone a chance to play. Any more just gets to much. I would be game for a get together. Not only to play but to talk acoustics.

If the Good Shepherd location falls through there is a possiblity of me getting a small room at the local Knights of Columbus hall. There is also a bar/grill on the property that we could go to if we are in the mood for food. Let me know if I should pursue this.

I'm down for whatever location (good eats are always a fine incentive :) ). If I can get everyone's availability, I'll have a pretty good idea as to when to reserve and what size room (if the youth room's open, I don't think using that would be a problem at all since it's a nice size).
Holla!

Evenings (I work in Kenwood) and weekends (after socer games) are usually good. I'm pretty open, so let me know.
