"If you build it, they will come" ~ Field Of Dreams ~
~//~
Field Of Dreams: A metaphorical story of one man's inspirational undertaking, clouded early-on by his own self-doubt and down on his luck as the result of past choices in life. A story about the power of choice, hope, faith and fate. A story about moving forward, persistence, intuition. A story about friends. Family. Relationships .... those lost, those yet to come .... and cherishing existing ones so easily taken for granted. The risk of choice & chance. The value of second chances. A personal pursuit of a man, unfamiliar with the process involved, wary of the toll the road ahead may hold. Unaware of the support of those that would come to believe in him, encourage him and, in the end, all who would benefit from the resulting fellowship of those that chose to participate. The destiny of choice, support, belief and faith in one's self and one another.
MonroeStock: Early in the spring of 2002, I planted a small seed. I sought the backing of a local businessman, a man of intuition, faith and belief .... belief in himself, in me, and belief in all those who would benefit from the nourishment of that seed. A choice was made. A chance was taken. You accepted our invitation. The fellowship that grew from all of us nourishing that tiny seed has blossomed into what is now known as MonroeStock.
Each year we come together to further develop our own 'Field of Dreams'. If you've yet to experience MonroeStock, this is your invitation.
Choice. Chance. Risk. Faith. Friendship. Fellowship. Family. Destiny.
Why not make that choice for yourself this year. Come join us.

Looking forward to it.

Lauren and all ..... Marion and I are meeting tomorrow to iron out some details, etc. As to location, three different locations were being discussed fairly recently .... each one having unique pros & cons to consider. As in the past, everyone should sign in at Holloway's to get name tags, goody-bags, etc .... along with directions to the secret facility. :D
Lessseeee .... more breaking news ....
Marion has just informed me that Yorkville has provided a new AM50T, acoustic guitar amp for a door prize .... I've just come back from reading a bit about it .... quite a snazzy little amplifier. Here's a link for anyone wanting to take a peek:
http://www.yorkville.com/products.asp?type=32&cat=17&id=341
Seems that Michael Woo has been busy back stage, handling the 'vendor-arm-twisting' task ..... Dean Markley, C.F. Martin Guitars and Elixer Strings have committed to shipping in quite a few treats for us, as well as the good folks at Taylor Guitars. Taylor has recognized our efforts since day one, providing many products for door prizes as well as sending a company representative the past two years.
Hmmmm ..... ok ...... enough rambling for now .... I'll update a little more as we confirm a few details over the next few days .....
Later folks ....

OK, I'm officially excited....may have a new Carvin AE-185 to get opinions on while it's in the 10 day tryout period ....my answer to the T5? My son just got a new bass today that he might bring, and my daughter has been notified that she has the time off from work (anyone need anything from RonJon surfshop?)

Shall I bring some homeroasted coffee to try too? Regular and decaf? Got a preference? It's my experience that motel lobby coffee is usually awful, so I fly with my own.
Looks like I'll be bringing the D-18GE...unless I manage to score a GSRS next week if my arm feels better; and Susan will have the Martin Smartwood (cherry/Sitka).
Pulled out the D-18GE and to my relief I can both fret the larger neck and hang my right arm over the dread without pain. (The doc wants me to keep my arm moving as often as I can take it). If that's the case, then my arm's not broken and I will be doing the driving from the airport.

Considering your signature line, I would have expected it from you. I'll drink with you girl!
More importantly, it's good to hear your injuries aren't bothering you too badly. If you are GAS'ing for a new GS, you are definately on the mend!

I'm getting excited as well. Looking forward to meeting some new folks this time around and putting some faces with names. Also excited to introduce my baby girl to y'all. Incidentally, Tom, my brother has a carvin acoustic amp. I'm not sure what model it is, but I was really impressed with it and I know he loves it.

Hi Dennis. Yes, that sounds about right. Not sure whether his is two or three channels. At least two for sure.

Hoping to make it for most of the festivities on Saturday. As Murphy's Law would have it, my wife just found out recently that her 20 year high school reunion is taking place this weekend. A VIP tent for the football game at Piedmont High on Friday night. Just 15 minutes from Monroe too so I'll be squirming in my seat. Then a big party/shinding on Saturday afternoon/evening. It was a hard negotiation, but for my best friend on the planet I decided to concede and split my attendances. Perhaps it was all those..."Well if you don't come, perhaps some of my old boyfriends can keep me entertained".. comments that helped with my decision. :D

Count me in for Friday night at Holloways. How nice of them! As for my wife and our daughter, their attendance is a little "iffy" at this point. So it's Cakes for sure and possibly Mrs. Cakes - I'll let you know as soon as I know. Either way, our daughter is still bottle feeding so she doesn't need to be included in the headcount for supper. Looking forward to it!

Friday number for the Bond's is five (5 )(seems piggy, doesn't it?!!!) Tom, Vicki, Becki, Jesse and Erin.....I just had chili and cornbread for lunch (leftovers, ya know), so I'm in practice....
Jesse was wondering if there was a local emporium that understood chili-slaw dogs?
