As some of the Taylorstock attendees saw, I got my PS14 delivered just before the beginning of Friday's events, brought it with me in the box (unopened) and had J.R. assist with the unveiling. In order to protect the guitar (being AR), I put it into the storage area in Bldg. 1980, running back to tune it up (after it had acclimatized) and then to replace 2-6 strings with the Elixirs I had brought for that purpose. W5BLT assisted in the re-stringing job (as I didn't even have a stand to use-- thanks man, I appreciate it and enjoyed spending some time kibitsing), and then Jeff Rearick dropped in and played it (so I could listen to the sound....yes, Virginia, I played it first..Jeff was kind enough to remove his belt before playing...hey, I said I was AR).

The next morning (Saturday) I played it for 2 hours at the T&C pool, and really feel in love with the guitar....it is something special!!! Decided to leave the guitar at Taylor for some little fix up items (neck set was still perfect!!) that folks had help me to spot on the guitar. That (leaving it) also helped to solve the transporting home dilemma, as Taylor would ship to me after the repairs.

So, Tuesday (8/13)I get a call from Glen (in the repair shop), and we agree as to what they will do, and how much it will cost. Sounded cool to me, I said go for it. Asked how long it would take before they'd have it done, Glen said 3 weeks, I said OK.

Today (8/14), Mike (from customer service) calls and tells me the guitar is finished, and they will ship (8/15) tomorrow for the agreed to price (period)....no shipping charge...I said "Hey, that's the fastest 3 weeks I ever saw!" Since I didn't want the guitar lurking around over the weekend in UPS land (duh!), we worked out a deal for overnighting to me, so I'll have the guitar Friday (8/16)morning. Can you say "half day off?"...

OBTW, rsimper (Ryan) helped my daughter find a Jewel model NOS in a DC shop, and they are working that deal this evening...did I mention how cool it was to get to know each other a bit on the physical rather than cyber level???

Am I still smiling, you betcha!!!

Hey Tom, that's great! I was telling her to get Bob to tell you how much she really deserved that Jewel model! He seemed to pull a lot of weight around that place!:)

I really liked Becki a lot, she was a breath of fresh air, and we talked for a good half hour Saturday night. OK she talked and I listened, but she's great! That goes for Mrs. Tbondo, too!

Tom, you know you became one of my "best buds" early on! I'm glad to hear things worked out so smoothly and swiftly for your PS-14. I doubt you'd have gotten service that fast anywhere else.

Good news about your daughter's JKSM, too. I've played a couple, and they're great guitars. Even better, she's getting a new one! I'm sure she'll enjoy it.

Hey!!! I went with Ryan to the store also to buy the guitar. It's shipping tomorrow afternoon. Boy, is your daughter going to get some nice looking wood.

But I'll let Ryan tell the story of what happened at the shop. We almost couldn't keep a straight face the entire time.

Tom, your PS was incredible looking. Seeing your guitar was a great way to start Taylorstock when I saw it as we checked in our guitars.

Congrats on your daughter's JKSM...she did a great job during the open mic and seems like a great kid who deserves it. Your family just had such positive energy from the minute we met.

Take care,

Vito

She's here...and she is gorgeous....Taylor repairs dept. fixed all the dings, replaced the nut, replaced the bridge saddle, replaced the strap pin, dressed the frets, removed the battery clip, gave her a buff and wax and threw on a set of new strings for almost no money at all ($85 incl. $ 50-60 of shipping cost)....UPS did it right the first time and here she is!!! Becki's JKSM will probably be here Mon-Tue and I've already got the mylar pick guard cut out for it.

Glad it's home. The folks at Taylor repair (as well as the rest of the Factory) are nothing but the best. And soon your daughter will have her beautiful guitar as well ... what a wonderful post-TaylorStock happening. :)

The links are working for me, Tom. I'm glad you got it back so fast. And such a price!

I had the good fortune to play this guitar in El Cajon, and I can assure you that its tone matches its appearance for beauty.

Thanks for the kind words.....and a big howdy to Mary, Chris and Ryan....good to read you again.....Ryan I've got a deal with Disney, they don't come to my house, and I don't go visit them unless all the golf courses are closed. The PS14 sounds better than I remember...sorry the pictures are on their sides, I thought they had been rotated...too lazy to fix and reload, or maybe I will.

Congratulations Tom and yes she is a beauty! I know you're going to have fun. It seems as if everytime I pick up my '97 PS10 it sounds better than the last time I played it. Again congratulations and thanks for the pics.

Bond. Tom Bond. Stirred, not shaken.

Hey Tom......
.....It's still just as gorgeous as I remember it, seeing it there in the lobby as you were putting new strings on it.....

When you say 'fixed all the dings'......were they able to get out those very, very slight buckle marks on the back? Just curious.....didn't know if they would steam those out or fill and refinish, or if you knew how they did it.

Also......please congratulate Becki on her new JKSM....it's beautiful.

Was a true pleasure meeting you and your family at TaylorStock.....

Later....
Rick

Thomas, (you have to imagine me wagging my finger a little as I say that)

I see NINE cases and only FOUR Taylors! I presume that ratio will change after your TS guitar(z) (and the BBSM) arrive?

Say it loud "Becki Bond Signature Model!!"

Has a nice ring to it!

Becki Bond Becki Bond Becki Bond!!!

I actually was dumb enough to think that "Family Portrait" was gonna feature the PS with Tom, (not Norma but) VICKI and Becki!

I am soooo dumb sometimes!:)

But that PS is well, it's like buttah!

Rick, the pleasure was definitely mine....was a great event, yes?!!! They got every mark that all of us found and even some we didn't.....this guitar is stone cold perfect...and sounds even better. There is no mark to be seen anywhere!

FYI....finally found a sign shop with static cling mylar (.010)....for $6, got a piece big enough for 6 Taylor pickguards. Cool stuff....modified the outline to cover the abalone and agoya....

Beautiful acquisition & beautiful collection. I could get envious over a collection like that, but I won't! :)

Ooooops!

Told you I was dumb sometimes!

Who was Norma? I thought I remembered telling a woman and her daughter to get a pen and add their first names and the name of who they were with to their generic "Taylostock Visitor" badges. I could have sworn her name was "Norma."

Anyway, i got mixed up again! Just another senior moment!

"offbrands" I love it!!

Hey, the way I figure it, if you can't afford the guitars you want, start from the ground up and get the cases first. At least people will THINK you have a bunch of Taylors!

I'm getting a Rolls Royce. I just went out and bought a hub cap. I'm on my way!:)

Tom,

I'm glad you got your PS back safe and sound. I was standing there when you opened it in the lobby at T&C, it was breathtaking
is all I can say.

It was a real pleasure meeting you and your wonderful Family.
Your a lucky man. All those awesome guitars, and Vicki & Becki to boot.

Mike,

10-4 on that...though I tend to think that Vicki, Becki, and Jesse (who was in San Fran with his girlfriend) are blessings from God...ones that I don't, can't, and won't ever deserve. It's part of God's grace package, in my way of thinking. Kinda like the 2000 cindy package, every thing you ever wanted and thought you would never get.

Really enjoyed meeting you and your wife....I'm ready for another get-together, and I hope next time we spend more time playing guitar, sharing songs, and generally hanging out. Does that mean it needs to be a longer event? I think so!

W5BLT....man, you revealed my secret....you should see my ocean!

Colby Taylor is a jamming babe! I really dug that sunglass/sundress thing she had going there. Cisco and Norma are blessed too!
