anyone want to get together for a late dinner afterward? Nice Italian restaurant right across the street; plus Evanston has many other options.

I think I have my husband talked into going. I have to ask my son if it's ok if we stay at his place. I'm sure it will be ok. Hopefully, we'll see some AGF folks there.
MAKE it a GREAT day!!!:D

Boy! I try to never miss Doyle when he's in town, but I will be in Scotland golfing that week!
***Doyle, would it be possible to re-schedule to the following week?***
Good to hear from you, Reed!

I might be up to this... depends on how tired I feel and how late it will be! Who else is going?

I stopped by Guitar Works in Evanston and the DD seminar/concert is sold out. Hope everybody got their tickets !
I'm sure the concert will go until at least 9pm, followed by plenty of questions, etc.
Some expressed an interest in grabbing a bite after the concert.
I'm able to hang around for a while afterwards, so if anyone is still interested...
Hope to see you there.

You have to pay to go to one of Doyle's workshops???
That's crap, the guitar stores back home always pay for the workshop and allow everyone free entry. So basically the guitar shops front the bill in hopes of your future business. I've never had to pay to see him and his daughter.

I know the ones at the megastores like Sam Ash and Guitar Center are free but still require reservations because of limited space. The space available at Guitar Works is pretty much the entire shop, requiring stuff to be moved, lessons to be cancelled, and transactions to be suspended during the workshop. Also, this one is listed as more hands-on, rather than a Taylor guitar sales-op. (It wasn't on Taylor's site last I checked). Could be that GW is already paying Dykes a hefty fee--or that he is requiring a guarantee.

As I recall, the charge was only $5.00 a person, not exactly a lot of money.
I never did call for tickets. Life became more complicated around here. Little things like work and making money to pay for my guitar addiction have entered into the equation. So, I will not be there. I will have to see Doyle another time.
MAKE it a GREAT day!!!:D

I paid over the phone via my credit card, but I never got any tickets mailed. Does anyone know if they just have a master list or something? Did anyone else actually get tickets in the mail?

They just have a master list. I signed up and paid last week when I was there for Gordy's bass lesson, and they just wrote my name down on a list in a notebook.

The last time he was in Gulfport, he did the whole thing for free, no charge to the store either. He just wanted to do something for us, since everything had been so disrupted by the storm.
Doyle's one of the few people I've met, where you feel like he's your friend, even if he doesn't know you. I really think that's how it is, too.
