I will be headed to Texas for a few days of vacation and then NAMM.
Anyone else from the forum headed out that way?
Gonna try to make sure I meet TaylorGirl while out there and would love to meet any other members who might be headed that way.
Anyone going or live out there, PM me and I'll shoot you a phone number.

I suppose this means I HAVE to go by the Taylor booth now.
I was gonna spend all my time at the Goodall and Collings displays.
LOL
BTW, I won't be home right after the show so it will be a few days before I can fill you in on what I find out.

NAMM is the 15th and 16th in Austin.
I'll be headed for San Antonio first. Gonna do the tourist thing.
Then head north to Wimberley and then Austin.

I'll be there Friday.
I'm not sure how they're doing badges nowadays. Usually Friday/Saturday isn't open to the public, but I have no idea for this show.
I have a badge waiting for me at the door. :)

Little late for that, Steve. ;)
You have to hit up your music store of choice that you spend a lot of money with on a regular basis (that's what I did) and annoy them until they get you a badge. ;)
I don't think you have time now, most everyone that's going to be there manufacturer-wise, will be on the way here Monday probably.

I didn't think NAMM shows were ever open to the public.
The Winter NAMM in Anaheim used to open up to the public on Sunday, but by then most of the major vendors and artists had left already (intentionally so it seemed).
Not sure how they are doing it now.

I spent the last two days there, I primarily wanted to play the GS since none of the lame dealers around me deemed it worthwhile to carry any.
I was really impressed with it. I played Mahog, Maple and Rosewood versions. I liked the Maple the most; punchy, clear, great trebles.
I played a few beautiful Goodalls, Collings, some Santa Cruz's and Avalon's. I was disappointed not to see Froggy Bottom. :\

Reags, I have a pic or two of the new LTD's still in the camera. If I get that done into a disc I'll try to send them along to you. I played the 400 Walnuts and also a PS or two in Walnut. And got specific pics on the Maddie RW 800's for another member.
Froggy does not do NAMM. I asked Michael Millard about that and he is content making his 100 guitars a year, and does not want to add dealers or production. So he figures there is no reason to attend trade shows like that.
I was hoping as well, but had to settle for the great stuff there and one trip out to Jamie Kinsherff's shop in Wimberley. If you get the chance to try one of his guitars do so. WOW !

I know this was some time ago, but what did you think of the walnut 410/414 LTDs?? I'm interested in them, but was just wondering what you thought.

Phil, I thought I saw another post about this and I meant to respond, but frankly I been catching up with work etc and then they changed the server here and it took me a couple days to get back on. So I been slackin on this.
I might be the wrong person to ask about the Wallys, cause I am a Wal-nut .
I thought the 400 sries LTDs were great, especially as they used Claro and not the (ugly to me) grafted wood. And you can get a dread with ES if you want and no cutaway. I like that also.
As for sound, it's pretty hard to tell much at NAMM, but they sounded like, well like Taylors to me. I don't think I have a pic of the 400, cause TBondo was calling me about the Maddie RW and I got a shot of that. Now I have to figure out how to post pics. GEEZ, it never ends does it. LOL

LOL
That's what's drawing them to me...I much prefer Claro to the grafted stuff (which I found exceptionally ugly, for the most part) and I like the idea of having ES without a cutaway. To me, cutaways on dreads just don't look right.
I'll have to check them out when they get in the stores.
And here I've just bought a GS, too. It might be kind of hard to convince my wife, even if she is the "enabler"...
:D

Hope that I did not in any way enable you in the quest for another guitar.
LOL wink, wink LOL
Just looking at the Taylor LTD specs on the order form etc.
Satin finish Claro walnut, no cut on the dread and maple binding.
Plus, all the LTD's for this fall have the maple "wedge" for a back strip.
As for the wife, I took mine to NAMM. And she was very understanding and would have let me buy had I been "forced" to do so. LOL She even picked on out at the Martin display saying that she liked that one, you should get one ! After I regained my self composure, I looked up the specs and it would be something I would love to have. She's gettin' better at pickin these things out. LOL
