I hope some of you folks who are lucky enough to go are going to keep the rest of us poor wanna be's in the loop?

Maybe you can gives a run down on what the day before was like each morning? There probably is some way we could set up a conference room so we could vicariously participate. Maybe one of you will volunteer to strap a web cam to your forehead?

God knows my forehead has enough room to strap a webcam on it (even 2!)

I'm sure the posts that result from the trip will be plentiful. Maybe someone at Taylor will gracioulsy lend us a computer for a few minutes. Who knows?

I'm bringing my laptop. If there's a net connection anywhere near the congregation I can bring my wireless eithernet stuff and a webcam. :)

Either way, I can post pics and stuff every night.

Jeffery, I feel so low tech!

I was just wondering if we are going to be able to bring a camera?? I wouldn't think it would be appropriate for the tour of the manufacturing facility but any thoughts J.R.? It would be cool to have a picture of me and the wood for my next Taylor.

.....that's an alarming thought!!!!

....the photo fanatic that I am, I was most certainly planning to shoot some photos for a web page summary after the trip, plus, like you, it would be great to shoot the wood in it's raw form to have later once the guitar was a finished product.....

Surely hope J.R. will go to bat for us on this one. (Hint, Hint)

I'll have my laptop also, and am planning on posting pics on a website with a brief synopsis of the day.

I'm sorry you can't be there personally, but we'll try to make sure you don't miss any of the action!!!

Last time I took the tour they encouraged us to take pictures. As far as I know there is nothing wrong at all with bringing your camera. Considering how open Taylor is with their process I find it highly unlikely that they would ban pictures for fear of where we would post them. The only things I would imagine they wouldn't let us take pictures of are the new pickup system (since it still has the patent pending) and any other new technology that hasn't been officially announced.

But I'm sure we can ask at the BBQ lunch on Fri.

I was planning on bringing a camcorder and a still camera. I too would like to have photos of the wood before it becomes a guitar. Heck, I wish I could have a photo of the tree it came from.

I think there will be plenty of documentation of this event. With all the techno-geeks here, it wouldn't surprise me to have a live satellite uplink feed of Taylorstock.

Heck, I don't remember any cameras being banned at the Taylor shop (I still can't call it a "factory"). There are few "secrets" at Taylor, the key is mostly in the "details". I am not so sure about seeing the pickup system at this time though. It is never wise to let anyone see prototypes of anything before the production parts are complete.
You will have fun, can't wait to see the group!

I'm sure if you ask them about bringing a camera in they won't object. That way you can find out if anything is off limits before
you do something that might upset them.

Well, I for one am planning to tape and photograph the entire event. I recently purchased a new digital camcorder/camera.

My plan was to post all the pictures when I get back on my web site. However, I don't plan on posting anything "during" the event. I expect all the extra time will be filled up. However, if anyone brings a laptop with a USB conector, I'll be happy to download what ever I have.

Geeze, I feel like I'm 10 years old and it's Christmas Eve. :) :) :)

Shoot all the pics you want! I'm bringing my new 5-megapixel Sony F-707 monster. :) I'll be taking as many pix as I can. I'm armed with 320MB of memory for the camera. (At 5MP, that may not be enough tho....)

Cameras are most definitely allowed.

My girlfriend is gonna be able to make it down from san jose for the weekend, so Ill get to see her thursday for the day (she is spending friday and saturday with a friend of hers from high school)...irrelevent, I know, but im pretty psyched for that since I havent seen her since school, and I wasnt gonna be able to see her until we go to hawaii at the end of the month. 86 bucks round trip airfare for her nonstop from san jose to san diego...american airlines...pretty good if you ask me!

One thing I've always asked about photographing was anything I thought might be a prototype ... understandably, they really would prefer you not photographing those. And anything new they haven't made public yet, I don't publish.

Cool! You wouldn't do that again, would you?!?!

Mary, you're so polite. The rest of us will be snapping spy photos like crazy! Seriously, I've already talked with them, and if there's something they don't want you to photograph, they'll tell you. When I was shooting pictures for the forums Virtual tour, they wouldn't take me into the inlay shop where all the nylon string prototypes were hanging on the wall. These prototypes were true classical-style guitars. I did manage to get some spy photos thru the window, though.

Uh Oh.... are we into one of those "Mine Is Bigger Than Yours" things?

I think that if there are enough camcorders and cameras, someone will be able to put together a real nice picture web site and/or video for everyone to enjoy. :)

Hey JR, if we literally "grew" out of that, then there wouldnt be a problem...debates are never fun if one person has "grown" out of it... har har har :p

Well I'll probably bring my CD burner too.

So anyone that fills up their camera is welcome to dump them on my laptop (USB or Firewire) and I'll burn them off on a CD so you can keep snapping. :)
