Next Thursday night, we'll be having our third Monthly Acoustic Jam night at the Lyric Theatre, in Loudon, TN. Sign up starts at 6 p.m. and the show's set to kick off around 6:30. had a great turn out last month and it promises to be even better this time. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to come and participate or just kick back and listen.
If your new to performing, this is a great place to get your feet wet. The theatre is small and has a very warm and friendly atmosphere, and has a feeling of days gone by. Please, if you can, come and support live music and help us local pickers keep a place to play.

Jack, you make me wish I was home in Knoxville.
Darn.

Me too, Bob. I'd like to meet you and would enjoy hearing you play at the Lyric. Please pass this on to any of your old Knox-vegas friends and invite them out.
By the way, I used to work for your old friend Lynn Clapp at Broadway Sounds [formerly Lynns Guitars]. Got a kick out of seeing the little van on your web site. I think Lynn is stepping back and letting his daughter and son-in-law run the place, but he still has his Tuesday jam sessions.

What period did you work at Lynns? I remember the Corky days, before he moved over to manage Pick n' Grin. There was the period when Lynn added stores, and one was within a mile or so of my house. I have a Conn F-27 guitar from Lynn's, my first decent acoustic. I also bought my first serious amp, a silverface Fender Bandmaster, from him. In fact, I traded over to my next amp, a 1966 Gibson GA-55rvt Ranger, at his store as well. I loved that amp!
The beauty of Lynn's was that he traded heavily in used gear and didn't mind if you tried stuff out. It was quite an education.

I worked there about a year ago, for a few months with john Lovelace [who I met at church]. Another odd note, I bought my first and second Taylor at Pick 'n Grin. Lynn still trades but not that much and his inventory is not that great these days. Most of his business, I beleive, is installing sound systems and renting systems. The only reason I left was because of the commute to Broadway from Loudon, and the son-in-law is a jerk.
Still, it was a good learning experience and I wish him well.
