I've got my authorization from the wife to see him in Newport News Va. in July. I also would like to make one of the workshops that weekend.
Anybody know what they're all about? A bunch of drooling guys with guitars sitting around knocking headstocks together or what?

Won't be going to BB King's in NYC, but I did just get my tickets to see Tommy Emmanuel at a small theater in Beach Haven, NJ (A great town on Long Beach Island - the theater is a block from the beach!)

Oh yeah... didn't hear about that. Could you post or PM me the details. I may be interested in going to that one too. Thanks.

I don't have the words to describe to you Tommy's stunning concert last night. But it was little different and a lot better than his concert last year. Something is going on with him. For one, he was very happy to announce that he will now be living officially in the United States (Nashville, TN)- I don't know if that means he is migrating to the US which would be real good news for us but just don't know how the Aussies will take it if that's the case.
But anyway, he did a 2 hour concert without any break in between, and for the duration, did not sit at all, and his energy and stage presence was the same from beginning to end.
Taropatch, were you able to make it? Too bad we didn't see each other.

Hi George,
I was there with my wife. My friend made it too. We were off on the left side... surely not as early as you but we had a great view.
I did not think it was possible but I think Tommy got even better since I last saw him. The command that he has over his instrument and craft is simply awesome. As expected, I was floored by blazing speed one minute followed by haunting delicate instrumental ballads the next.
For me, watching Tommy play and entertain is totally inspiring. The guy is just in a totally different universe and playing a different instrument than most of us. I cannot even strive to play like that. It's completely out of reach for me - beyond my comprehension.
I did buy the new DVD "Tommy Emmanuel Live at Her Majesty's Theatre Ballarat Australia" which looks to be a great one for any fan's collection.
