Canadian here! Only I've been living in the States – primarily the Chicago are – since 1966. ;) I spent a fair amount of my early 'growing up' in Ontario... about 40 miles west of Ottawa. Chances are I won't be able to make an Ontario get-together any time soon... ;)
Hope you find other, more available people!

There is a Fingerstyle Guitar (http://www.fingerstyleguitar.ca/) society that meets regularly. They have chapters in Toronto and Montreal. I think someone is trying to set up a chapter in Ottawa as well.

I believe you are correct. I live equidistance between, Montreal, Toronto, and Ottawa along the 401. On Saturday April 29th, there is a fingerstyle workshop being held at Loyalist College in Belleville, Ontario.. Better yet they are running for the third year an Traditional Roots workshop for acoustic guitar and banjo for a week long, in June.... both should be a blast, already signed up for the fingerstyle, just waiting for my vacaiton approval for the week long workshop.

You know it is about 20 minutes from my house, if it is the one in Odessa, Ontario.
the first year they put the festival on , it was the same weekend as the Limestone Blues Festival in Kingston, another 10 minutes down the road. Which is one great weekend of blues music.. delta, chicago, st louis, and then last year it was the same weekend as an out of town wedding.... thanks for reminding me, I'm going to mark it on the calendar.

I was born and raised in Toronto, had a pretty good music career there (Dan Hill, The Extras, many other bands); moved to NYC in '84, and then Tucson AZ last year. Haven't been back to TO in many years; don't miss the snow! ;) I do miss the old Mariposa Folk Festivals on Center Island, I saw Dylan, Joni, Lightfoot, Perth County, and Taj there, I think it was around 1969? (They say if you can actually remember the 60s, you weren't really there...)
