I am bringing my wife, son and his wife to Taylorstock. We will be arriving Wed. night late and plan to tour San Diego on Thursday. Can anyone give me a list of must see attractions that we can see in one day? Also any restaurants that are local favorites. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Looking forward to the event and meeting everyone.

Well - the most popular ones are the San Diego Zoo, Sea World and the Wild Animal Park. The Zoo is very big and definitely worth it - probably the best thing to see IMO.
If you want something different, check out Coronado Island.
As far as restaurants for the family, don't know any specific/local SD restaurants but In-N-Out Burger is a California favorite and there are multiple locations (should be some in SD). If you want something different, you can try Wahoo's Fish Tacos - there is at least one in the San Diego area. Most of the other restaurants I know of are in LA or Orange County, so I guess that's not too much help.

That is a tough one. There are so many things to suggest. Could you help us with what things you might want to do or avoid. Do you want to drive around and see different parts of the area, or spend most of your time in one spot. Are you guys in good shape and want to walk? Do you want to cram in as much as possible or see just a couple of things without driving much?

Rubio's is the fish taco king!!!!
The zoo is great but is a very long day. Sea World is the most kid friendly place in San Diego. Also a simple beach outing is fun as well.

If you go to Coronado (which is great place) a good place for a family meal, lunch or dinner, is Miguels. Its on the opposite corner from the hotel del coronado...the corner of Orange Ave. an R.H. Dana St....its n a little mexican styled plaza set back from the street. Great mexican food, very reasonably priced....try the White sauce!
MMMMM
Coronado is nice nice place. I was lucky to have spent last summer there.

Without question, the best lunch in town (in my always mildly humble opinion) can be had at D.Z. Akins. It's New York style Jewish deli food, and they do not play games when it comes to preparing a meal.
It's real easy to find; you can see it from the I-8 freeway. Just take I-8 East to the 70th Street exit. As soon as you exit, and get onto 70th Street, make a right and go down the hill. It'll be on the right. You can't miss it: it'll be the place in front of the parking lot that has no empty spaces...

Jen, no self-respecting New Yorker puts Russian dressing on a Pastrami sammidge, so I'll opt for mustard and horseradish! And I'm serious: one must prepare oneself, both physically and emotionally, for lunch at D.Z. Akin's.
As for the pickles, they have buckets of them on all the tables...

We've got a Rubio's here in Fresno now and I've had Wahoo's before as well(even got the t-shirt!) and I have to say that Wahoo's is a more authentic "fish taco" and that I like the grilled halibut better than the deep-fried stuff at Rubio's(although it IS tasty!).
IMHO,

If the last three things on this great Earth were Sam Adams, my Taylor, and Rubio's fish taco's, I'd survive...

Well, I can see we won't starve in SD. Thanks all for the information. Keep it coming and I'll keep watching.

I actually have a picture of Steve eating a pastrami sandwich... or maybe it's a pastrami sandwich falling out of his mouth... Anyway, I keep it in case someday I need to blackmail him. :ha:
