Hey all,
To those of us who'll be pickin' out wood for our custom Taylorstock guitars:
Whaddaya think the chances are of us getting our interior labels hand-signed by Bob T. himself as "Uncle Bob" Taylor? I think that would be the icing on the cake to such a huge weekend!!

I was already planning that. I wanted to have Bob sign it and whoever else helps me. To me the coolest thing would be if all the TGFers who are attending could also sign it. But we'll see what is possible when we get there. I'm sure if we ask then Taylor will tell is if it's feasible. [crossing my fingers]
Now my only problem is deciding what I want. Oh, the choices!

I'm certainly interested in finding ways to make the visit and the resultant guitars (especially mine) as memorable as possible.......I was thinking about asking Capt. Bill to create a TRC to commemorate TStock 2002.....something a little less pricey than my abalone rose that's on my K14C.....I noticed something in the Carvin sales mag that made me think of that....maybe we'll get "Taylorstock Special" labels, ala the NAMM show specials, etc.

I have general idea in mind of what I'd like, but am really looking forward to the seminars and Q&A sessions to learn as much as possible before placing the order.
I also need a look at the current custom shop price list -- I like being married... :ha:  :ha:

I know what you mean Gutch :D But I will say in hubby's defense that he doesn't want me to sell one of my current Taylor's to finance this one. Gosh, I knew there was a reason I married this guy :D

My wife told me I didn't have to sell my 714ce to finance the new guitar, but I just couldn't justify adding another expensive guitar. I'm going to limit myself to two high end guitars.
I'll probably end up spending the money on recording equipment.

Where's that money tree when you need it?!? I can really only justify one good guitar right now as I don't perform publicly and I'm trying to prepare for three kids' college expenses. Well, that's my story for now - I'm sure it will change as the finances get a bit better... :) Anyway, once I determine the best guitar for my needs, the LKSM-6 goes up for sale ('99 in great shape with I-Beam Active installed and poodle pink plush case - Anyone interested?!?) and the proceeds go toward the new one.
The problem is I really like the Kottke's tone! Mahogany and Spruce is a great combo and the jumbo size is LOUD! However, I've found that playing an x14 is a bit easier when sitting in the desk chair, and I need to keep the volume down at night when the kids are sleeping and I do most of my tinkering! That's why I'm looking forward to the seminars and a chance to play all the models side-by-side!

Gutch, I know what you mean about the jumbo's size, but don't count on an x14 being much quieter. I'm still amazed at the volume I get from my 714.
I'm going to limit myself to two high end guitars.
David, I promise if I played like you I personally would own way more than two. :)

Well...I'll just go and call Taylor up and tell them that you don't tell us anything. You won't even throw us a frickin' bone here.
I'm going crazy not knowing some of the details of this trip.

Just surprise us, J.R. It would be great to have our instruments signed by Bob, but whatever happens will be cool. This is such great privelage and honor just to be there.

JR and Lisa,
Thanks for the compliment!!! I really do appreciate it.
I'm excited about getting a new Taylor, but frustrated by not having any clue how much it is going to be.

David, what I do know about the build your own Taylor event - You'll be able to pick your own wood for any model Taylor that you want. No upcharge. If you want custom options like inlay, etc., the custom shop fees will apply. The problem is that they don't really have a custom shop price list anymore, because there are too many options and too many variables. The custom shop has certain pricing guidelines that they go by, but nothing is published at this time. I have talked with Taylor about this and their answer was that we should expect to see custom pricing details at the event. (I can infer a lot of things from this statement, but I won't. :) )

Maybe everybody the goes can sign mine:) JW
