The central Florida, Orlando guitar show is this Sat and Sun.
The site has changed to the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimee this year,
so a little farther drive for me.
Any other Fla. members planning on attending?
I will be there both days, so yell HI if ya see me. I'll be in and out of the
Big Orange Guitar booth. Stop and say hi if ya can.

Any central Fla memebers that did not make the show yesterday, you missed some nice, and interesting acoustics. This is the first Orlando show I have been to that had a good selection of high end acoustics.
Saw several nice Collings, some VERY nice indeed. A Goodall or two and some real nice Taylors. Including one older 910 ce from the Santee days.
Interesting guitar.
Ken Miller and his wife were there with their hand built guitars from Tallahassee. Nice work and some of the prettiest inlays I have ever seen.
I saw a couple of forum members roaming around yesterday including Pistolero and Artie. (Yeah, I asked him what happened to him for the last Jax gathering. Says he spends too much time on the PRS forum. No wonder he missed it, and electric guy)
So if you get the chance you should stop by. Never know what you might find sitting around.

Was there some stipulation that stated the expo preferred attendees with awful hair? There were more people who didn't get the memo (or *any* memo, for that matter) than there rightly should ever be in the same building at once. Whew!
Get tempted by any new toys there, Rick?

I can see that Ms. Cogginz is not a regular attendee at such esteemed events as the local geetar shows.
You will find "interesting" hair do's and outfits to match are pretty much a pre-requisite for some show goers. Sort of like people watching at the Mall but only on some bad acid. LOL
And yes, some little ole thing followed me home.
Please check your inside sources for the info.
BTW, any of you Fla members that did not attend you missed a pretty good show, with a real good selection of nice acoustics this time around. Some really nice Collings and the like, and one Taylor from the Santee era like nothing I have seen before.
Should'a gone.

Ricks, don't let Lauren fool ya, she's making fun of my bad haircut, lol. But what she's not saying is that after the guitar show, just before dinner the wind picked up, and she covered her hair with a hat. ;) But that's ok, she wears a hat well.
Truthfully, I'm in agreement, there were some funky people there. But what do you expect when you get a room full of guitar players. We actually had more fun people watching than guitar looking. I saw a couple of old D18's that were cool. I'd have to say the cool factor, as far as guitars go, would be when my buddy Mike showed up with the '57 Gold Top Les Paul that Duane Allman used on Clapton's Layla recording. That was a cool one to get to hold. And at the risk of breaking the AGF price rule, it's a bargain at a cool $750,000. ;)
It was a decent show. I got to hang out with Ken and Virginia Miller a good bit. I'm glad Lauren made it down, and it was good to see you Rick.

Yeah, Rick, I'm no guitar show vet, that's for sure. About the only people who didn't seem outlandish in some way shape or form were the people I knew, or knew I would meet. MAN there was some bad hair. I won't describe any though, this is a big forum with a lot of lurkers--you never know. lol

Glad you had a good time at the show.
Hey Allen, I forgot to tell you that they ran me down to meet your buddy Mike with the old '57 Gold Top. He wanted know about my part in that old story, so I tried to fill in what gaps I could.
He asked if I wanted to see it and I told him I already had, probably 100's of times before. LOL

Rick, that same buddy also owns the fender amp that Clarence White owned and used frequently. He's obviously a serious collector and has some pretty nice pieces.
I'm still cracked up at watching Lauren 'people watch'. lol

Yeah, well, just when I thought I saw the guy with the worst hair ever--not just at the show, but ever--some other guy mosied by just beyond him and put him plum to shame. Man, if I'd had a camera and long lens I would have entertained myself all day getting grab shots of these folks. Better than any airport I've ever waited around in, better than any funky college town--this was great stuff.
'Course, the guy who saw a Martin model-name sign on a guitar case and asked if it was a Gibson or a Martin, then acoustic or electric, sort of wins the prize for "person who least needed to be there." ;)

But you were there, and you know the whole story. There was a pretty lady carrying that case around, and that case was asked about more than probably any guitar there. If I hadn't been as much of a gentleman, I should have let you carry my guitar around. lol. It would have probably sold. :D Next time. ;)

Now you are gettin the idea there Pistol packer. "Marketing".
You would have had more people looking at that ole geetar for sure, and with the right sales pitch, it would have sold in a heart beat.
"But sir, I'm just a small girl and having trouble playing this old dread. Is there any way you could take it off my hands so I can get a smaller guitar"?
Lauren, get the camera ready. I have just the trip to Daytona for you.
BIKE WEEK ! I can show you things you would never imagine, trust me.
You could burn out a set of batteries in any camera down here that week.
And compared to the geetar show, well that was a Sunday in Church compared to Bike Week.

Tom--would have enjoyed seeing you again and hanging out. Wouldn't have been much chance to play, but heck, we'll all just have to engineer another shindig sometime in the next couple of months or in the springtime. I'd love to host one, but the woman who lives below me would croak, nevermind the space issue of a small apartment. lol
Man, you did miss some weird-looking people, though. It was a hoot. ;)

Well.
For awhile there, I was feeling all sad because I'd missed seeing all these cool guitars in Orlando: Skydog's '57 goldtop... coupla old D-18s... etc. etc. But all that apparently paled compared to the bad hair there. So now I feel MUCH better, cuz I was at the SoFla Fair this past Sunday... OOooooooooo some scary hair (& other parts too) there forsure! Serious Mulletude.
Rock ON!

Well, I'm batting 1000 because I'm hearing about this show after the fact too. I definately have to pay more attention to this part of the forum.
BTW - I never have a bad hair day. I haven't got enough hair for it to care.
I've reached a stage of life where driving to and from Orlando in the same day isn't even a consideration. If I go to Orlando, I'm staying overnight and coming back after a weekend, so if anyone wants to get together in that area and play, go to tourist attractions or whatever, let me know. I'm always ready to get out of Miami when I can.
I really need to get together with some new friends and start learning again. I seem to have hit an unmotivated ledge where I just can't make myself study, practice and improve. I just feel like I'm caving into the arthritis, mental blocks and being satisfied being an old strummer.
I don't want to be that way.
