Get your minds out of the gutter...
I'M OFFICIALLY COMING TO TAYLORSTOCK!!!!
Magically, this morning several Delta flights appeared round trip from DC to San Diego for the obscene price of 191 dollars including all taxes. Since my hangup before was the 400 dollar fares, this works out perfectly, and I am going to be able to get the frequent flyer miles on United (since Delta shares with them)
Everything worked out perfectly. I'd like to thank the academy....
Anyway, JR- Im a "Large" t shirt and ill be paypalling you some dough fairly soon.
Happy I am :D

I got it too!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
CaptBill and other DC people,
Just go to Delta.com and plug in IAD or DCA (depending on which you want) and then SAN. You'll get a few choices in flights. Very cool!

Yep- you can also try travelocity- they show up there too...they are not on orbitz, though.
Jenn, you neglect to mention that the only reason you got it too was becuase I called you this morning to make sure you got it since Im such a pal and since I was looking out for you!

Oops...my bad. :( Please accept my humble appologies, O' Ryan, giver of good fares. I shall never neglect your contributions ever again. Can you possibly ever forgive such an atrosity made on my part? Your sacrifice of calling 411 to get my phone number has saved me from purchasing a flight for more then it was worth. So I thank you for your kindness.
Your humbled friend,
Jennifer Meinel

Cool! Congrats! I've received two more confirmations today as well. We're still way under the 100 people that I'd like to come. After July 9th, I'm going to clear the list and open it up again on a first come, first served basis.

I decided that I didn't want to have to get up at the crack of dawn on the 8th, so I'm taking a flight that gets me to San Diego at 4:50pm. That way I can still have dinner with you guys. :p
So you have to make sure that dinner is planned for after 6pm. Otherwise, I'd need someone to pick me up at the airport. Sometimes those shuttles take forever to get you to your destination.

Im flying in on Delta from Atlanta arriving Thursday mid morning at 11:48 or so...Im thinking of spending the afternoon on the beach in Coronado. Did dinner ever get planned? We should go to Dave and Busters and have a little fun...its really near the T and C...no more than a mile.
710ceLTD is coming with me
Sorry Ron, I was looking forward to that Tak :p
Maybe you can bring a Rivers for me :D

Ryan,
How are you flying with your guitar? Are you checking it?
I'm still undecided about bringing my K14C. :(
Airlines scare me.

So can I count on someone to bum a ride to/from Taylor every day so I don't have to rent a car? :) Hehe.
I figured I'd just take a shuttle to/from the airport.

The guitar will most likely be checked. Dont really have much choice and I have a decent amount of faith in the Taylor case :)
If I find a way to carry it on, believe me Ill do it, but it appears that checking it is the only option.
In any event, should be a blast.
JR-could you email me with that ovangkol/engelmann pricing info? Are you gonna bring the 412 with you or not?

Ryan: eek, I'm just so apprehensive to check it, especially since I'm changing planes. :(
God that's going to suck to be guitarless then whole time. *sigh*

Just know that I'm going to try and bring my guitar onto the SAN-DCA plane before you get on. I'll race you to the plane.

Ryan and Jennifer,
I just flew this past week (to Alaska if anyone cares), and I saw BUNCHES of people carrying on guitars. I saw everything from gig bags to hardshell cases. I didn't see any Taylor luggage cases, but I did see several of the old style TKL Taylor 300 and 400 series cases being allowed as carry on luggage.
DO NOT CHECK YOUR GUITAR AS LUGGAGE AT BAGGAGE CHECK! Take it with you to the gate. If necessary you can gate check the guitar. This is still vastly superior to checking the guitar at baggage check.
Looking forward to seeing everyone there.
David

One thing I cant remember, though, is will they let you past the security checkpoint with 2 large pieces of luggage? They KNOW that they will only allow you to take One bag and a personal bag on the plane, and Im gonna have the guitar AND a carry on bag. Im not so much worried about my ability to sweet talk the airline into letting me on the plane with both(Or at least gate check the guitar) but I am worried about the xray people throwing a fit.

All you probably have to do is tell the x-ray people that you are "gate checking" the guitar and not carrying it on. It shouldn't then be counted as a carry-on item. They have to be ok with that because people do it all the time with other large items such as strollers and car seats. But I'm sure you'll have no problem talking your way out of any situation that comes up. I just plan on bringing a large backpack as my "personal item". No need for anything else.
