Any old hippies lurking? I have tickets for tomorrow night's Donovan concert in Seattle - the 40th anniversary Hurdy Gurdy Tour :) I grew up listening to Donovan, and can't wait for the show!!!

I bought a cassette of Donovan's Greatest hits in Toronto during my Senior class trip and I listened to it continually on the trip. With the exchange rate, it cost me about $3 and I thought it was great. Some amazing use of simple chords and melodies. Should be a great show. Enjoy.

I'd be there in a heartbeat, but my VW bus is in the shop for a repaint. ;)

I'll have to check and see if he's coming anywhere near Phoenix...he's definitely on my "wanna see" list...I wore out "Sunshine Superman" vinyl LPs three times...!!! Love that album, and several more of his...up to and including "Cosmic Wheels"....

The concert was great!

He played for about 2 1/2 hours, did all his sixties & seventies hits and some other stuff I'd never heard before. Told a lot of cool stories about moving in the British music circles in the early sixties.

Donovan brought back a lot of memories. It was a good mix of music, electric and acoustic. I sure would have liked to see a short set of just him and his guitar, though.

Opened with "Hurdy Gurdy Man", went into "Barabajagal" Closed the show with "Season of the Witch", and encored with "Atlantis" and "Mellow Yellow".

The band was very good, (a guy on keyboard, sax , and flute; a great drummer; a woman playing an upright acoustic bass about twice her size; and a very good guitarist playing a hollowbody Gibson) and they really looked like they were having fun.

Lot of old hippies, and a surprising number of young folks.

To me, Donovan was sort of a Dylan alter ego.

He and Lennon were surely friends.

I'm jealous. I hear he's wonderful lately.

Enjoy the show.
