I was wondering what you guys thought about this:

Maybe have a sticky topic with carpool lists and for those looking for someone to split a room with.

What do you guys think?

I'm not against splitting a room and would be happy to chip in for someone's rental (or renting a car myself and having others chip in or whatever hehe :)).

Thoughts?

I mentioned this in an earlier thread; I'm going to try to wrangle my wife's van for that weekend. If I can get it, I'll be able to help with some transportation. I think there are two bench seats which fit in that thing, so I figure I could be cartin' six or seven people around with me...

Well if you go to all that trouble man, your lunch Saturday is on me as well as some gas money. :)

Least I could do. :)

Hehehe... Don't worry about the gas money. Along with the van, the wife gets an expense account. Her company pays for her gas.

Lunch, on the other hand, is an entirely different matter...

Speaking of lunch, I'd like to recommend a "must have" while you're out here. It's a place called D.Z. Akins, and it's located between the T&C and Taylor Guitars (I-8 at the 70th Street exit; ask me for directions if you need 'em).

I'm a native New Yorker, but I stand proud when I say that this place offers up some of the best Jewish deli fare you're likely to find ANYWHERE! They have both sit-down and take out. A side note: beware the Philly Cheese Steak and fries. You may THINK you've had big Philly Cheese Steaks before but, I assure you, they were merely child's play. These are no joke...

Well I'm a New Orleans native, so I'm all about good cuisine. :)

I'm not a vegetarian, but I don't eat much red meat. As long as I can find something chicken/seafood-oriented I am game for anything local. :)

That's definately one of my favorite things to do as I travel: sample local cuisine.

And it shows! *pats belly*

Jeffery,

New Orleans is a great town! How's the Acme Oyster House doing? I always have to hit it when I come to your town.

Great food, reasonably priced.

Man I haven't been to Acme in forever. :)

When I go home to visit I always hit R&O's (bucktown), Frankie & Johnny's (uptown) and Cooter Brown's. Three of my favorite places. :)

Well since I desided I could once again attend, it is going to be on a shoestring budget, thus my hotel choice this time around is based on price. I was going to be at the T+C in the begining, now its one much closer to Taylor and much more within the budget.
I do still plan on driving to and from verious happenings, be at T+C or wherever, and am more then happy to offer a seat in the ole car..........all ya gotta do is ask.
I still plan on getting in town thursday around 5 PM and leaving sunday sometime, and plan on (at the very least) taking in all the talent this group has to offer.

What hotel did you find that's closer/cheaper?

I'd like to know about the cheaper place, too. I'm currently planning to drive home Friday and Saturday nights, but if the price is right, it'd be easier to stay over on Friday at least.

First off let me say that I dont want to be blamed for undermining all the work that went into getting the T+C rate, I just couldnt handle the cost, after the car repairs I just went thru and attend as well, so I had to shop around.

Motel 6
I-8 and magnolia I think.
I have been warned to check the A/C in the room before unpacking and calling it home.

Its 10 mins from Taylor and half the cost of T+C.
do they have rooms left for those dates?? who knows.
