In case some of you have seen "Monroestock 5" thread title and didn't know what it means and perhaps didn't bother to look further, this is the 5th annual event held in Monroe, North Carolina. It is organized by the AGF's Rick Crider and Sponsored by Holloway's music. It is usually well attended by people from surrounding states and it's a really great time. Typically consists of open mic, great food, fellowship and lots of guitars and the occasional workshop. It's well worth the 7 hour drive for me - this will be my third year attending. Just wanted to let y'all know what Monroestock is. So check out the "Monroestock 5" thread 'cause that's where the details will be. It's currently scheduled for October 22.

Here's a convenient link to the Monroestock thread (http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67361). Check it out. It would be great to see/meet you there! :)
This will also be my third year attending . . . and I agree that it's worth the long drive (something like 7-8 hours for me).
Most of the out-of-town folks stay at a local Best Western, and we like to meet up for dinner on Friday, and then spend a few hours jamming in the hotel lobby. :)
By the way, if anyone is traveling to the event and is interested in keeping costs to a minimum, I'd be happy to split the cost of a motel room for two nights...

Lauren (lcogginz) just told me about this the other day. I hope to attend as a first timer and live about 20 mins from Holloway's. Looking forward to it!

Same here...if anyone wants to split a hotel room let me know. I'm not rich....yet!
BTW...Jim....you may want to clarify that you are referring to a male. I don't think your wife would appreciate a female splitting it with you. hahaha! Also, let me know what time you are planning on leaving that Fri. so I can set it up at work. That way we call save gas money. This $3/gallon is still killing me.

I like to leave pretty early . . . it's an 8-hour drive from my house, and I like to have enough time to eat a relaxed lunch, and still be in Monore in plenty of time for dinner. I think I usually head out between 7-8 am.
I'm assuming that Bill will be going with us, too--although he's usually a last-minute decision. Plan one only bringing one guitar. ;)

Looks like fun, and about a 4 hour drive from North Georgia for me.
Maybe I can make it.

Might bring a couple, as long as people give me a chance to swap around and try some of theirs.. ;)

I'm really going to miss being there this year. I'm sure hoping there's a VI...
DARN IT I will be in SAN DIEGO. Just to let anyone know that might be interested in a live sound system or PA I have a fairly new one for sale. You could pick it up while in Monroe. I am out of the live playing business. Instead I am the sound man for my new Church's P&W band. The Sound system has a Mackie board and 4 powered Peavey speakers, 2 speaker tripod stands, 3 mic stands, 3 Sennheiser mics and cables, plenty of speaker cables, A Galaxy The Galactic Monitor Package , includes 3 personal hot spot monitors see http://www.musiciansfriend.com/srs7/g=live/search/detail/base_pid/601401/ and all kinds of carrying cases. The Galaxy Galactic Monitor Package , which normally retails for $580 by itself. It is included in the $1500 price. A great setup for a midsize to large Church. All for $1500 . If interested email me See also in the for sale section. I will get the particulars later.

Hey John ....
..... I'm quite flattered, not to mention proud, that you and others travel the distance for MonroeStock .... not just once but annually now!!
We even have a registrant traveling from Europe. (Well, OK .... not 'just' for MonroeStock alone ... )
(Anyone like to dig through the archives to ID that first small gathering in Holloways stock & storage room .... I think that was April 2002. Maybe the 26th ... )
Hey John ..... thanks for this thread ..... I think I wrote enough that it won't come off as a cheap bump. <img>
