Placebo Aid: we will keep our guitar cases open for donations that will go to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund to directly benefit the Hurricane Katrina disaster in the South. All donations will be sent to through my employer for collection and distribution – First Advantage Corp. is doing a $2 for $1 match for all donations collected –so make your contribution count for a lot more by supporting the Placebo Aid relief effort.

Chris,

Unfortunately it looks like I'll be a no-show to the Ale House gig. I'm really bummed.

Brandt and Steve,

I was going to be at the Sunday mornning show, but I just got offered a luxury box ticktet to the Niners game.

Sorry I'm going to end up missing both shows.

Well, the next one for me that's actually booked is 10/8 in Walnut Creek, so I expect you there with wife and kid in tow.

There's no excuse for missing my gigs! ;)

Have fun and GO NINERS! (Sorry Rammies, I used to love ya, but you went and move to STL).

Fun show, guys. Between the beautiful weather, great coffee, pretty darned good munchies, and the Real Placebos the Pacific Coffee Company was a swell place to be this morning.

One of the best examples of coffee house acoustic sound I've ever heard, so I have to ask what they're playing through. Brandt has his Santa Cruz OM/PW plugged into a Peavey Classic 30, Steve has his OM-28V going through a Mesa Boogie!!!! I think we can learn from this that it ain't the gear, it's the players.

Wow! Thanks Fran - coming from you that is indeed a complement. I'm glad you thought it sounded natural - nothing like a little eq magic from the PADI. Also, Fran did 3 great tunes on Sunday morning while The Real Placebos took a break and enjoyed a quick coffee.

The Real Placebos had fun on Saturday and Sunday. We had a great time on Saturday evening at Pyramid sharing the platform with Chris Estes. Actually we opened for him! He's the real show... at least that's what all the girls think :) We even got to do a couple of tunes with a new friend/mando player. Nothing like putting the guy on the spot! Great job Greg!

Thanks to all the AGFers that came out both days - Eiko and Rowena, Fran and Lynn, O2bNugent and Michelle, Guyute (showed up on Sunday too, what a guy!) and a whole bunch of family and friends.

Most importantly the 2 shows that Guyute and The Real Placebos did this weekend plus Guyute's gig last Friday, we collectively raised over $1600 in cash for Hurricane relief contributions. Youzers! We had a very large check come from The Real Placebos biggest fan. Thanks to Marsh and Margaret for a very very generous contribution! I will be sending all this "sweet moola" off to my corporate HQ for the $2 for $1 matching!!!

Thanks everyone for coming out to listen to us play and helping out so generously with our small contribution to the devastation in the South.

After watching the Real Placebos (with special guest Fran) at the coffee house, my wife and I had lunch in beautiful downtown Walnut Creek. I commented to her that it is so nice to sit around on a Sunday morning with friends and listen to other friends playing great guitar music. Life is good. We had a great time.

Fran, Rowena thought that it was so nice of you to come back in and introduce yourself before you guys left. She said that you're a real gentleman to which I added "and there are very few of us left!". :)

Brandt/Steve - the guy in a denim shirt who sat right in front of you was not a stalker. His name is Ken and is one of my students. I told (warned) him how good you guys sounded together so he was checking you out. Before he left, he thanked me for telling(warning) him about the event. We'll see what questions he'll have if he comes back for the next lesson. :ha: Oh and thanks for playing Darcy's Guitar for me on the second half of your set. Pete H. would be proud.

Brandt and Steve, thanks for bringing me in to the Berkeley Alehouse. I've been wanting to play there for a while now. I'm glad I came to the Pac Bay gig, too. You guys are really well suited to a small venue like that....nice and intimate and within spitting distance ;)

I must say for me, it feels good to not only play in front of a bunch of screaming girls, but also to raise so much to help our fellow Americans in this time of need. Marsh and Margaret are incredibly generous and with their donation, really showed us all what charity is all about. I am humbled (no mean feat, I might add).

Anyway, I'm going to be putting clips of the Real Placebos up on my site in the next couple days (pending their approval of course....and NO, I'm not paying residuals, so don't ask). I'll let everyone know when I do because, I know everyone else will enjoy them as much as I do :)
