Looking back and, just tonight, rummaging through the 'Gmail' account used just for MonroeStock traffic last year, it's clear that MonroeStock *Five* was a 'definite' .... before last years event concluded !
Here's an email from Marion Holloway, right after last years MonroeStock. I'm pasting the entire email .... I think Marion's note to me at the top shows his genuine sincerity, 'off-stage'.
*******
Rick, Thanks again for all you did for the MS event...if the world will slow down just a little, I would like for us to "do lunch" and come up with concrete suggestions for an even better 5th. If possible, I would like for you to post the letter below on the AGF...thanks, Marion
All of us at Holloway's Music Center want to thank each of you for your participation in the Fourth Annual MonroeStock.
A special thanks to Rick Crider for his unfailing attention to detail and anticipating the unexpected that always seems to present itself, Rick Fagan from Taylor guitars for his presence and input, to Jim Tozier for his inspiration and finger picking classes, and to the moderators of this site who took their time to pay us a visit.
Special thanks also to Taylor Guitars, C. F. Martin, and Co., and Dean Markley for the door prizes.
The entire staff of Holloway's thanks all who contributed to the "tip" jar. They unanimously voted to spend the entire amount to purchase musical instruments for a young person(s) in need this Christmas. Your kindness will help make a young face smile.
We look forward to seeing all of you and your friends next year, as we celebrate the MonroeStock V.
Keep on playing.

I could not have said the same, or even different, any better!
Let's open this thread up for bench talk in general ..... I'll start yet another thread outlining specifics. When I figure some out.
Your turn folks:

Rick!
You've had us worried, man! Well, I'm good for the last half of October... after that, I'm out for a few months for a new computer system rollout here as of Nov. 1st.
I'll be keeping an eye on this one for sure...
And glad to know you're still around!

Man!!!! You guys want an exact date already?
Well ... we can do that. Tradition and nods of agreement last year pretty much nailed the third Saturday of October as the day for MonroeStock.
So, looks like it'll be October 22 ..... morning, till late.

Oh no, I'm going to miss Mike singing!
I hope there is a Monroestock V. It's probably a bit far for me to travel, but I'm sure I'll be back in North Carolina eventually.
Great to hear from you again, Rick.

Hmmmm. I just looked there .... apparently I've been not just AWOL, but a deadbeat AWOL, having not ante'd up the annual clams necessary for more than 15 PM's .... just realizing too, that my avatar is missing and other features aren't available.
I'll hustle over to the AGF Bank this evening and get my 'Good Boy' badge out of hock. Back shortly....

MAN!! I'd SO be there, if ya know, I had a car.. Or could even drive(it's not pretty), or had much of a life at all.. Or, for that matter, some money to spare. And close to my birthday too, dang!
Have extra fun for me, though, guys.

I know that we are trying to do this in October, but if it is at all possible we may want to postpone it until the spring. With gas getting close to $4/gallon, I don't know how much of a break we will get in prices when October roles around. Since so many people drive into Monroe from some good distances, I wouldn't doubt if a lot of those people didn't show up because of gas. I know that I'd have to either hitch a ride with someone or fly down because there is NO WAY I'll be able to afford driving at this point.
Rick...you and Marion may want to rethink a date because of cost issues. Until this country settles down, Monroestock may be a little smaller than usual. I know I don't want to miss it because of a stupid gas issue. :(

What? Gas prices can't keep me away. You can hitch a ride with me, Jennifer. You'll need to pitch in a little for gas, though. :D

Spring will likely work better for me too, for personal reasons. Maybe there could be a Monroestock 5.5? :D

Well, if it gets confirmed in Oct. then I will probably take you up on your offer. I can't afford $150 in gas roundtrip. :D
